okay for your first question, all overdrive for a auto does is downshifts from D (4th gear) to 3rd if u need to catch some speed to while trying to pass a car or somthing like that. on a regular basis u would want it on for gas milage.
and second question, it sounds like you have an STX which is a st with all the gt options. I think you should talk to your insurence and prove to them that u don't have a gt. -------------------- ![]() All I have in this world is my Balls and my Word and I'm not breaking em for no one,- Tony Montana Team 6gc 2005 |

QUOTE(Drocay @ Jan 6, 2005 - 3:47 PM) okay for your first question, all overdrive for a auto does is downshifts from D (4th gear) to 3rd if u need to catch some speed to while trying to pass a car or somthing like that. on a regular basis u would want it on for gas milage. This is incorrect. The overdrive acts as forth gear, it IS a forth gear. If you have the OD off, you won't get any further than 3rd gear. If you have the OD on, the automatic tranny will shift to 4th to save engine wear and tear while you're trying to rev up in third. This makes the third gear shift out very early. If you have OD off, you can take third all the way up, turn the OD on and then it'll shift into OD, or 4th. |
