Straight to the point smile.gif here winters are even worse, road are so horible that situations like this happends ocasionaly.

And for god sake, if you driving in the snow, get some good winter tires, and relise the brakes and try to streer the car instead of jumping out...

Thats why ABS was made, that you could steer then your braking. frown.gif

just try to turn left, and dont panic, the worst is to push the brake and wait..... i was in situation like this twice already, and ended up going my ways instead of kissing someones rear end... but i was on spicked winter tires. thats the different.

If you are sliding in the snow, take your foot off the brake, and try to steer your way out of the wreck, while watching the other lanes for traffic.. If you have a manual transmission, downshifting will help a lot.. Just don't use the brake or accelerate..

I think you would be better off turning to the right and letting the curb rub your tire hoping to slow it down some. By turning left you are right out in the middle of traffic and that lane does'nt look much better to drive on. Even if you damage a wheel or tire it's better than damaging the front end like some of those cars did. And never try exiting your car, if you could'nt stop, what makes you think the car behind you can? Stay inside where it is somewhat safer.

If you slow down the video you can see that everyone had their wheels turned to the center of the street except for that fast car the lady jumped out of, she had hers straight. They should have turned into the curb that way the tread of the tire grips the curb, unlike turning to the left and having your sidewall rub it.

Turning into the curb might have stopped the car but in the end would have been hit from behind. The inside lane was the only way to go. Most of them could have made it out if they just let the car roll and not held the brake.

I think inertia would have kept the cars going regardless, the street offers little friction and most of those vehicles way almost 2 tons, so the small amount of resistance created by the curb would most likely do nothing.

Like most people said, don't panic and you'll be fine.

I used to work at an air bag factory and they had a volvo on display, the thing was just mutilated and I guess the guy came out with only minor injuries. I think he got hit by a semi on the 401 highway in Ontario, its like the deadliest highway in the world!! well in Canada atleast tongue.gif

I like how in that second video, the arrow was pointing the wrong way for a while and caused more accidents. I hope someone was fired because of that.
