People with CAI's that have then running down to the driver side fender.

That little plastic layer that you take off at the bottom of the car to install the filter, is it ok to leave it off? Or should I bolt it back in? Will it restrict air from gettting to the filter? Should I be afraid of hydrolocking my car because that thing is off?

My friend has a CAI in his civic, and he took the black plastic piece of also and it runs find. Where I live we are having 6-10+ inches of snow sometimes, but the roads are cleared farely quick. Is snow gonna be a problem?

ull have to do a little cutting as plastic peice that covers the bottom extends up into the wheel well as well.

With it on i dont c how it would ristrict airflow. On top of that if you have a gt and maybe an st (at least on my car) there was a little scoop where the fog light should be that actually fed air to the area the filter element would be.

As for the hydro lock issue ull have to worry about that with or with out it on as that plastic peice does nothing to stop the water gettting to the filter element in event of submergence.(sp)

Remember hydro lock is only a worry if all or most of the filter element is submerged in water. Rain mist or water dusting from cars in front shouldnt result in hydro lock.

My advice is spend the 45 on an AEM bypass valve as its better to be safe then sorry. I installed mine in pouring rain the day i got it (it was that weekend that it rained a lot in LA area) I was lucky because that day i ran in to a flooded out under pass and if i had not installed the bypass i would not have had a running engine.
