Take a look...Anyone, just drop what you think... I think it is more of a dress up piece. I can't imagine it doing much of anything. But then again for 30 bucks maybe its worth a shot... What do you think? This post has been edited by WORK4POOP: Jan 25, 2005 - 11:48 PM |

its only 30 bucks, but look at the shipping.. its 21 bucks so it all comes out to be a little more than 50 bucks.. (that how they make the money thru shipping) i also have been looking at that too but our celicas have a hi hump in the middle in not sure it will fit.. maybe...

its purely cosmetic.
A. you'd have to cut the kick panels and somehow make room around all the shifter assembly. B. the car is a unibody. Stress is really only applied in 4 locations - the strut towers. Thus the strut bars in front and rear. Now up and down force on the strut towers can also happen, thus things like DG performance fender bars are nice as well. C. Would look sick if you had a roll cage, or like that look. Now I'm not knockn' the bar. Its kindof cool and much better than things like the interfooler and BOV noise maker and 4" tip on 1.5" piping. So, do as you must - but again, purely cosmetic. EDIT TIME: Well I'm a retard. This goes behind the front seats. lol. Now, I retract previous statements. Granted it still wont do anything for keeping the two rear strut towers from pushing in with pressure, but might help a LITTLE bit. Its still IMO cosmetic. EDIT TIME ROUND TWO: Its actually more like 50 bucks with shipping. -Ti This post has been edited by turboinduction: Jan 26, 2005 - 8:28 PM |

I'm not going to say I think this thing works or doesn't. It has the potential, but there's no way to guarantee. I wish there was a way to test what areas of our cars need the stiffening and what doesn't. Anyone have any ideas on that?

Use strut tower bars to test to see were stuff needs bracing? That doesn't make to much sence to me. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

i'm saying the only areas that benefit from bars like such are the strut towers. Corner and downforce pressure on the car cause pressure on the wheels forcing them up. Which in turn forces them in towards one another. Thus a strut bar was made to keep the wheels more flat and the towers from flexing as much. the body it self doesnt really have any pressure. So.. .again... the strut towers.

Read that. And I was asking for ways to test, not what you think works. So "yea - strut towers (where the pressure is at)," isn't an answer. This post has been edited by Bigmeanbulldog55: Jan 26, 2005 - 11:19 PM -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

I'm sorry, I thought you meant - where would areas benefit from these bars. In turn, I said strut towers (in a rude way because I just posted about this one post up) but I misread and now say my bad. Yes, I'm sure they're are many places that have pressure and could use a little bit of help. Not nearly as much as the towers as a bar on those is the biggest help, but I'm sure nicely located bars to weak points could aid the strut bars with body flex. I dont know how to test other then putting random bars up and moniter flex on each one. But that would require alot of useless drilling and such. The Celica is pretty solid. I'd say with both front and rear strut bars and possibly the DG bars (could be made), the girl is fairly sound from flex. I'll let you know what I take the corners at this summer

All right...like I figured...I'll just stash away the 50 bones and eventually put it towards something worthwhile. Parts that are just for looks are pointless...less is more.

Turboinduction, I just wanted say I am sorry I jumped back in a rude way. I've just been on a big kick about miss use of the site lately. Miss reading something wasn’t something should have been mad about. I didn't PM you because I wanted to make this message public. It takes a big person to say they are sorry, and I commend you for that. You have my respect.

Please keep in mind many of us have been down the path and have come across these things before. The need to re-question after an answer is given.. IE 1. do you like eibach or TEIN better 2. I prefer TEIN over eibach 1. do you have experience with both, how do you know... that’s what trips peoples triggers. If we had to go into a deep explanation every time we answered a question, we'd all go mad. Its sort of like the drifting thread that appears every week and yet, each time, I (and others - kwanza etc) have to tell and fully explain that you cant drift a FWD. Its annoying now, and even I (and I'm relatively calm) get upset with each rebuttal. You'll learn after a while who knows stuff and who doesn't. I'm ignorant in a lot of topics, but I do have much experience with suspension and design. Now I didn't respond in the cams debate because I don’t have knowledge. But someone who’s bold enough to give a direct answer probably knows his stuff. Again, you'll learn who's who after a while. and thanks for apologizing about this thread -Ti |
