right now im rocking the "BestBuy" speacial, as in I worked there so everything i have to the high end bestbuy stuff which most will say is crap or is ok. I right now have rockford components in the front and infinity in the rear. The rockfords need an amp from the lack of bass, and the infinity 2 ways dont have that great vocal. I also have two rockford he-2 subs which i love, have never had a problem and they sound great. I have compared them to my friends jl's eclips audioban and sony pioneer infinity and mtx. I like mine the best. Im also useing the 700s amp rated at 900 watts rms @4 ohms.

for the headunit I went with Kenwood, at the time it was the best one out, that looked the best and was the fastist at reading mp3's. I have had three kenwoods twopioners and a jvc and alpine. I liked the kenwoods the best, but for the alpine i had it was nice for still being a cheaper one.

RF is good stuff, Infinity sounds pretty good to me, I'm using a 12'' Infinity Reference sounds fine for my needs. Cant go wrong with an Alpine, and personally I stay away from Audiobahn.

I have had a few audiobahn subs and had no problems what so ever. luved em I actually entered comps with them too. They were very clear deep base i would set off care alarms just driving down the street no problem. And i am not one of those guys that just luv loud crap. No matter how high I crank it is crisp and clear every thing is well balanced.

Yeah some people talk trash about them. Buut audiobahn is not a bootleg speaker I shut alot of people up when i let them sit in my car. Thats actually how mine end up getting sold someone offered me more money than I even payed for them right on the spot. I gaurentee if you got them you would not be diappointed. They have some powerful subs.

id put my Tempest up against any Audiobahn sub with confidence in every thing a compitition could throw at me... while Audiobahn may get "loud" i cant see how you could say its clear and distortion free.. horribly made stuff. and ill always stick to that (and yes i have heard All that Audiobahn has to offer, and these were in cars and in shops, ofcourse you can say "it was probably the box or car" and ill still say Audiobahn is complete ****.)

www.adireaudio.com <--- Tempest..... for the price you will not find a better 15"... they can get very loud and for a 15" it still has great SQ while doing so.. or two Shivas would suit your needs... you may think "well they dont look like much" from the looks but you would be sadly mistaken! do any research on Adire and you will not find anything bad... or look at Resonant Engineering.... these two companies are paving the way for car audio to come(along with Treo, Incriminator Audio, Image Dynamics, Sound Splinter, TC Sounds INC, just to name a few) there are many many brands to look at.. you are better off listening to subs and checking out cd players at a shop instead of listening to us.. its your own personal preference... i just prefer the higher end stuff wink.gif also you can even view these subs in action!!! at www.realmofexcursion.com very awesome site and has alot of vids to check out..

EDIT: also they arent really even for SPL.... you wont find Audiobahn winning many trophies in many comps... maybe some small local stuff.. but check out the RE section on The Realm and look at the van with the MT's!

nah these brands arent really "underground" or whatever you wanna call it... just some brands people have heard because they go by what their dealer or local shop says... the price is a factor yes.... but when quality matters its the most important factor... they arent cheap for a reason... while you will find alot of other brands to be expensive.. they might not be built as well... using cheap parts and flashy chrome designs, and selling them for more than they are worth is very common today (you can build a sub for less than $50... and it be better than what you find at Wal Mart and $hit, infact TC Soundlabs is custom made subs from customers, but very nice parts and baskets, spyders, voice coils and even tinsel leads). by no means am i saying that these are the only brands to go with... its just your own personal taste as i said..... but reading reviews will help you alot!

Adire and RE do get very high reviews acrost all car audio forums... though the JL's still seem to get the best SQ marks which is why I chose them... but the previous two are supposed to be an excellent compromise of the two. I felt the same way as you and I went with MB Quarts, if you want to build a really nice soundquality system you really want components and you want them amped.

JL is very respectable.... do not get me wrong... but they are over priced... and i have heard everything by them and all my friends run them just about.. while i respect JL to a high degree.. i am moving on to other brands... Infinity to me has great SQ speakers and subs... while their speaker sets lack a little bass(most speakers do anyway) they still are very nice, but not for everyone.. some say they are a little harsh with the highs...etc... a component set consists of a midbass driver and a tweeter. (unless you get a 3 way set, which is a woofer, midbass, and a tweeter.. woofer plays the lows, midbass plays the mids and the tweeters play the highs...der der... which is the way id go.. cant go wrong with a 3 way set of comps..) components offer the best sound and imaging... id recommend the CDT set that is $150 at www.thezeb.com for the money they are amazing.....

I really only know what I researched and finaly decided to make my system... but the MB Quart RCE-216's I got are absolutly amazing, 190 each pair www.onlinecarsterio.com. Might be a little more expensive then you wanted to go... I agree JL can be expensive, but on ebay 300$ gets you two 12" W3V2 Subs which isnt too shabby.

definately Alpines highest series, if you go that way... 2 way component sets will be fine man! i was just sayin 3 ways are better, but they are more costly! you can easily get a 3 way set though.... buy a 2 way set and a midbass speaker! and set the crossovers right and there you go!(better to get a real 3 way set though) but anyway, 2 ways will be fine dude.. you will be good to go

my signature says it all wink.gif car audio is my passion, and i do not settle for "ok" or "alright". if it isnt perfect then it isnt needed... saving money is always something i do/did in car audio, because its worth it.. id rather save $400 for a set of....subs... than go and just get something to have real quick... think twice buy once...

personally, i believe Kicker makes the best subs. I have (had I guess, since they got stolen) a complete kicker system put in and it was awesome
I think the best quality comes with subs that use the same company;s amps. Thats how kicker makes their systems, the are suppose to integrate well

ok how about this iam leaning toward this, my oringal plan was was to put 4 infinity component system in the doors and the back panels...but iam thinking putting two component in the front so theres clarity in the front and then putting two 6.5 speakers in the back for nice bass? What do you guys think.... keep in mind i want clarity+some bass.... i know that for bass thats what a sub is for

ok so you want two sets of components in the front? for true audiophile sound you want that all together.. so if you can do that, then go that route.. but if not, then get some kick panels, and the other set go in the doors... for the back, a nice set of midbass drivers will do fine.... Adire has some Koda's that are only $80 a piece... you could put some 8" drivers in the rear.... id recommend some Resonant Engineering RE 8"s they are $50 a piece and are amazing little woofers...
