I'm glad you found a clutch !
do they have it as a kit for the 5s/3s ?
Whats the HP rating ?
Who's putting it in ?

im going to resurface my stock flywheel. there are pros and cons to getting a lightweight flywheel, so ill just stick with stock.

i called spec and they made me a custom clutch. the 3sgte disk, with the splines of the 5sfe tranny.

the clutch can hold 440Tq ! a local shop gave me a good deal on the install, so im just going there this time around.

TTE: remember at the meet when i was saying that my car wasnt pulling right, and i had dave get in and drive it.... well that was the start of my clutch issues. i had an ACT street disk for the 5sfe thats rated at 250lb of tq. thats a good clutch for the 5sfe, but not strong enough for the 3sgte.

mac: no, im keeping the tranny as is. the plan is to run about 10psi daily and 15 for race with a 3in downpipe and a full cat free exhaust. i think a healty 5sfe tranny should be able to hold this power without any problems. if anything does go wrong, ill convert to the mr2 lsd trans later on.

I just had my clutch replaced too. My mechanic told me that he didn't see so badly wore out clutch at all. I couldn't wait till swap anymore so I got the unexpensive CM OEM for now.

laqos,
What are the deminsions on your intercooler? Did you get it as a kit? I just got a turbo kit, but it has top mount, and I like my hood the way it is, so I want a front mount. Did you get a front mount kit? Make it your self?

its just the intercooler then you buy some mandrel bends...and fit it all up yourself.

is there a lot of trial and error doing it that way and making it all fit? The piping I mean. Oh, and how did you actually mount the intercooler, is there a genaric intercooler mounting kit, or one specifically for our cars? Oh, and I don't have the pic in front of me, is that a small one that goes under the support beam, or a tall one that goes in front/replaces the support beam?

already made the drive out there to help manny put my old 5sfe in his car. it took 10hrs to get there (bad weather and traffic). coming home was about 5-6hrs tho.

i might make another drive out when manny starts puting all his turbo stuff on.

Today my Spec clutch started to slip very badly and will need to be replaced. I decided to search for this thread out of curiosity to see how long I've had the clutch for. To my amazement, its been installed and daily driven for 7 years now, almost exactly to the same time around when I originally bought it and made this thread! Wow smile.gif

2nd gen 3sgte swap with lots of heavy driving!

I know its kind of a pointless reason to bump up a thread, but you almost never see anything good posted about a clutch. Just negatives!
