i guess the inevitable happened and i finally got pulled over for my tint, lol. i figured my car is the hardest to tell that i have tint cuz its black and the interior is black so the tint blends in nicely at night. the coolest thing happened tho, he got called to a more serious "offender" and let me slide, haha. *phew. tongue.gif

is 20% too dark?

Forkee, congrats on not getting a ticket.....guess you were in the right place at the right time (sort of) for that copper to get another call to respond to.

HEre in MI it's illegal for the driver and passenger to be tinted PERIOD! mad.gif
Backs are legal....I have limo/5% tint on the rear window and 2 QTR windows....and 20% on the drivers/passengers.

Got pulled over also....about 2yrs ago....just minding my own buisness at like 1a.m and i'm the only car out in this 35mph street and this jacka$$ cop decided he's got nothing better to do on a rainy night. He tailed me for about 1.5miles and when I'm .5 miles away from dropping my friend of he decides to flash me and give me a ticket for $35 telling me to take my tints off! RIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!
He was an a$$. But their still on and no problems yet.... *knock on wood*

When i get around to it, I am going to tint my front windows to I think 10%..i still want to be able to see out at night without having to roll my window down, do you think I should just go with 5% since thats what I alread have on my back three windows?

I have limo tint all the way around luckily no cops have bothered me yet. The cop at my school said that they really dont waste their time checking tint around here plus most of them dont know the legal limit as it is! even if they pulled me over for it i dont think a cop would give me a ticket probably just a warning but theres no way id take it off! it cost me 300 dollars put it on and im not about to take it off!

i got a question....
i just read coomers post about the neons he got a ticket for. someone said he should take before and after picks to prove that they aren't in there anymore. If anyone ever wanted to do this with tint, it wouldn't be quite as easy, because you could just stick the lights back in a lot easier than putting tint back on.
How bout photoshopping your tint out? anyone think they could do it well enough so that it looked like there was none?
of course if you ever go caught doing that i bet you would get really screwed and have an even bigger ticket.

I use to have 5% tint on my car, and I got a citation for it, and had to make an appearance at the Station in 48hrs showing my tint was completely removed, else i'd get fined and they'd have the tint removed professionally and i'd have to pay for the removal. They were assholes to me. As far as I know, 5% and 10% Tint are both Illegal. With Neon Underbody Kits, you are allowed to have them on your car, your just not allowed to turn them on at all, as they are a distraction.

Did you know if you took your license plate off your car, it becomes an offical "show car", and Police cannot give you a ticket for anything done to your car. You could have red and blue sirens, 5% grade Tint, Blue Underbody Neons and have that all on, and a Cop couldn't do ****. tongue.gif But its illegal to drive your car without one.

i think ur better off having someone without tint take a pic of their car that looks like urs then photoshop urself standing next to it, lol tongue.gif

i don't remember where i heard this and in what states it applies, but if you have neons, you might wanna check how it works in your area. oh, and i bet it only works for colors other than blue or red. but what i heard was that it was perfectly legal to have them and it was legal to have them on, as long as you couldn't see them(the actual bulbs). so if you had underbody neons you could have them on because what you are seeing the the light reflecting off the ground. same goes for interior, if you can only see the glow from it and not the actual bulb you are safe.....
has anyone else heard anything like this??

EDIT: oh, and i suppose about the photoshop thing, most places probably make you bring your car in a show it. now that i think about it, i know a guy that got a fix it for the exhaust on his truck and he had to bring it in within a week or something to prove it was all legal

I had 5% on mine and i couldn't see for shizt at night. Then a stupid ass cop decided to be a dick and pull me over for my tint on my front windows at NIGHT while they were rolled DOWN! WTF!!!???
I just ripped that crap off and showed the cop on my court date that it was off and they wrote it off. $300 down the drain! Then he tried saying **** about my eyebrow being too low on my windshield and i was like, whatever you stupid pig!
Now i got 20% and it still looks sweet

Here we are allowed to tint all windows except the windscreen to a maximum of 35% and no more than a certain percentage of reflectivity.

I got my windows tinted about a week after I got my car. It makes a hell of a difference to the temp in the car (it says much cooler on warm days.) and it looks heaps better than no tint too IMO.

My windos are tinted I belive at 10% on all the windows(except the front of course), and cops just look at me and keep to themselves. and there is no way I would take it off, my car wouldn't look right without it. wink.gif
