someone else will give you more info.......
but the cam 's are the bars at the top of the engine (under the top cover) with lugs on.... these lugs push the valves open to let fuel in and waste gas out ! single = 8 valves (one in. one out per cylinder) double = 16 valves (two in. two out per cylinder) this is a really simple way to understand it but the princable is right ![]() they make the engine work, so quite important ![]() This post has been edited by popstar: Mar 21, 2005 - 3:13 AM -------------------- ![]() Life is for living, and you don't get a second chance Take care now !! |

Dual Overhead Cam is a engine that has 2 camshafts one works the intake valves the other the exhuast valves... they can be 8,16,24 and i even seen a 32 valve head ( boat) .... Twin cam ... well that can be a DOHC .. or DUHC .. Dualunder head cam... < might have a few diffrenet names .. just can't remeber them right now.. -------------------- |

Or go to the library and they have the Chilton's and Haynes manuals to every car made in the last 20 years in a couple big editions. It will give you very good pictures of what your engine looks like. College libraries and public libraries have these for some reason.

Also, I heard that with dual overhead camshafts, you have more tunability than the single overhead cam..
