In Chicago, gas just spiked 20 cents. The cheapest I've seen is $2.45 for reg, $2.55 for super (which is what I put in my car) and $2.65 for premium. And usually, I drive 15 minutes to Indiana and pay 20 cents less, but now it's only 3 cents cheaper. It's not even worth burning the gas to drive there anymore. On top of that, I drive a truck for a living and the price of diesel is $2.65 which makes it almost impossible to make any money so all the employees at my company are going on strike on Monday so that we can get paid more for delivering loads. This is crazy!!! It's only the beginning of spring and prices are getting higher. What's going to happen by mid-summer? I heard in Cali they are already paying close to $3.50.

in all honesty i think our gas prices are paying for the war.

it rose so fast all of the sudden that it makes sense that we are paying for the war with higher gas prices.

Stuff like concrete, building supplies, gas, cars, everything, its not bushes fault. Wait till the next president gets elected then he will get blamed for everything. Don't you people go to college?

I read in USA today Today that the prices will continue to rise b/c china is starting to develop a lot more and will need more oil for everything. THis is not good for any country b/c we are running out of oil and if the biggest populated country starts to use 10x what they used to, oil will run out very very quick

There is enough oil to last quite a while, there are huge reserves in alaska. The running out of oil is just hype, that americans like all the rest of the hype seem to buy into. If an oil shortage was such a threat don't you think that huge companies like UPS, airline companies would be more worried about oil shortages than anyone else?

jets don't use high octane oil only prop planes do so they don't need to worry. As for running out of oil yeah eventualy we will but the problem isn't because of china or the war its because the companies that run the oil industry decided to leave their cap the same so they aren't increasing supply as demand goes up. Sorta screwed here because there is nothing to force them to drill for more oil and this way they make more money.

I can care less about europe, its completely to different societies, so many things go into price differences because how they are taxed and what not. But the price of oil hasnt raised that much for the prices to shoot up that much.

& according to what i read online, my 2.35 for 93 octane is only getting taxed .46 cents per gallon

Not true at all, if china and india arent consuming more oil then whey would they need to encrease production? And they have been increasing production, just not enough. Sooner or later the market will take care of itself.

please dont regurgitate something you heard some one else say...lol they base this off pop-economics ... realize that europe has a different economical structure than the united states does. mostly a heavily taxed socialist system. there is reason for the united states to have cheaper gas prices

personally it p!sses me off.. basically china is keeping the Ren artificially low by continuous printing, this helps exporting because other countries can buy thing cheap from there. the problem is that the reason they want exporting to be high is basically because they use slave labor to mass produce whatever.. china is going through a major growth right now though .. its like at 10% last year and ppl on wall street start singing praise when we do 3 or 4 % .. i know it doesnt seem like much but imagine an extra 7% of the whole economy just layin around your house..

oh n gas is 2.20 here rolleyes.gif

2.25 in Charlotte. I just think it's ironic that the prices just shot up a couple months after the elections. I don't care that much if it's high because of inflation but it's going towards our president's beer fund.
The US owns like half of the middle east so baby Bush could fix it but why do that he's making money.

And the culprit is...duh duh duh...Bush

Oh good. Someone has already done the "you winging fools wouldn't know what expensive fuel was if a tanker load of it ran you over".

I reckon, with maintance, insurance and fuel my car is getting towards a dollar a mile. Admittedly I drive it *hard* but still.

I'm paying 35-45 cents a mile in fuel alone.

Average wage and cost of living probably isn't that disperate between the US and most of Europe to be honest.

uhh in other countries their cost of living is different and their minimum wages are all different so its 2 different soceities thatis hard compare. And it isn't Bush's fault, if any other retard was the president they would be blamed for everything as well...don't hate just read up on something before you complain...

Average wage and cost of living probably isn't that disperate between the US and most of Europe to be honest.

I know that the minimum wage here is $5.15 per hour where in Australia it's over $7 per hour. Gas prices in America are around $2.30 per gallon where in Australia I think it's around $1.10 per litre. If you do the math that would mean that 1 US gallon is equal to 3.78 litres. That means that Australians pay around $4.15 AUD per gallon or $3.19 US per gallon. Take the minimum wage of say $7.25 AUD and that is around $5.60 US. So yes Australia pays more for petrol than we do but they make a little more also. I haven't researched the UK but the economy is similar to Australia. For those of you that don't believe my research I have an Australian standing here next to me that said that sounds about right. She did say that in the Adelaide area it's about $1.20 AUD per litre.

It's $NZ 1.31/L for 98 octane here in NZ at the moment - works out to around $NZ 4.96/gallon or $US 3.55/gallon.

For the kiwis or those interested, this site shows all the prices throughout the country: http://www.pricewatch.co.nz

I filled my take for just under $30 its was like $2.59 (premium) I still dont really care about the price, there is nothing I personaly can do about it, and its a privlage to drive not a right, so I dont think that any of us have the right to complane about it, there is always the bus, even if it means that I would have to leave around 4 pm to get to work at 8 pm every day, its still an option if I cant get gas.

I was just being simple, and a little general about it, I will say that the US has one of the most diverse economies, being that in Florida you can get a 2 bedroom apartment for 400 a month where in LA it's probably twice that. The only reason for that is because the states have some much control over who lives in them. When I was in Philidelphia it was totally different from Charlotte and when I was in Orlando it was totally different, almost like living in three different coutries. In the US Cali might pay 50 cents to a dollar more than every other state bringing our average up. That is why I can go to Charlotte and gas is $2.15 and go to the next county it's $2.25 and then go to South Carolina and pay $2.19 for a gallon.
