i jsu tpicked up a motor for parts yesterday and i was checking things out and the crank has a big gear in the middle of it on it whats is that , my 94 doesnt have it

i believe that "gear" works as a balancer in the camry engine, to help quiet the engine more.

The gear might also help sling oil all over the place. It seems odd to me that it would be gear shaped and not just circular to help balance. I think there's more to the story.
