Hey whats up guys. Got a question for u. Would it be gay to install a push button starter in my car. Keep in my that i have like nothin done to my car, except rims now. I found some good ones on ebay and one that i really like that has a flip switch that u flip first and then push the button. Still thinkin about the idea. Just thought that it would be kinda unique in the 6gc community. Tell me what you think. dont worry u wont hurt my feelings. biggrin.gif Aight thanks guys. peace. -john

I'm gonna install one on mine, but moreso out of neccesity, (swap long story). I dont think they are that ricey, but dont make it like blatantly obvious, and mold it to the dash somewhere so it looks NICE.

The best push buttons to use IMO are Ignited. That is what John had and that is what I have. They come in different colors and are pretty easy to install. The S2K start button is about $30-$35 at a honda dealership and requires a relay for instalation. The Ignited button recomends a relay but it isn't nessessary. You can probably pick up an Igntied button on ebay
here and here and here and here

I have a blue one. I will snap some pics tomorrow and post tomorrow night

here are a couple how-to installs I found:

7th gen Celica install
http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread...threadid=148597

RX-7 install
http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/start_b...stallation.html

VW install
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1188609

I am thinking about getting either green or red non-illuminated for my car.

I will post my pics tomorrow. Those are good write ups too.

I have some info on the wiring, this should help anyone who want to install.

You have to splice the white/black wire (ignition) for the start button. In the pics posted in Coomer's alarm how-to sticky you can see the wire in the harness in the dash. This wire is difficult to get to because you have to take apart the driver's side lower dash and other stuff just to get to it. DON'T BOTHER. take off your center consol (the plastic one in front of the radio and vents) and there is a vertical wire loom above the radio to the left. That loom contains the black/white wire needed to splice. It is very easy to find and get to with lots of room to work with.

also a side note, if you cut the ignition wire completely and connect the button wire, ONLY the button will be start the car, NOT the last turn of the key. If you splice into the wire and connect the button wire to it (with the ignition wire still connected, BOTH button and/or last turn of the key will be able to start the car.

you dig ?

color of the push starter can be switched out to clear and red. the middle part is for a standard size gauge or u could use it for starter kill.

shipping would prolly be around 6 bucks for usps 3 day shipping. its designed to fit a 1 dinn slot (the celica has space for 2, usually a radio and misc. pocket), but im sure u could customize if u wanted to put it somewhere else. just hook up the wires to wherever u need it to go (starter, lights, etc.) and ur all set.

You can also cut out the center round part and mount a gauge there too.
