It'll be time consuming doing it yourself and a pain in the A$$! Just take it to a tint place. About $100 and your good to go.

i was going to attempt to tint mine myself...i went up to autozone...they have tint rolls you can buy (about $10-15) and you need a kit to do it. Kit comes with a spray bottle and a squeegie (about $8). It said on the back on the kit...you need to do it in the shade when your window isn't too hot or cold. I don't know, if you are confident enough, you can do it and save yourself a lot of money...but for me I found a shop around my area that was having a tinting sale (all four windows for $50) so I am going to go with that smile.gif good luck man

I did all my windows with 20% and a strip on the front window. Patience and cleanliness are your friends. Use a razor blade to help get all the contaminents off. The back window is really hard to do. I had to cut the sheet in half and do two sections because of the curve in the glass and it still didn't come out as good as I would of liked. I'll probably just have the back done professionally in the future. As far as supplies, i just used a little squeegy, some razors, some distilled water in a spray bottle mixed with a little dish soap, and misc cleaning supplies to get the windows clean. I also had to take off the old purple tint, which was the most time consuming, especially the back window because of the defrost wires.

I got an esxtimate for my Celica and my tC the other day for 175 each. He's the same guy that did my clear bra on my tC and it came out beautifully. When it comes to tint I hear from others on this site that you get what you pay for, and because I've seen this guys work, I'm willing to pay it to avoid bubbling, broken rear defrost, purple shade, etc.

just go to Dave(DG).
he's gotta make some $ off it, it aint charity work, but your guaranteed a good job.
he buys big rolls of tint, so see what he has, may not have the % you want.

btw, that $15 tint is crap, it turns purple in like 2 years

I did my tint myself. it is time consuming. I recommend buying the Rear Window tint for the rear window, otherwise it'd be hard to do it without bubbles. before you apply the tint you need to make sure the windows are very clean. dust will cause bubbles. I've spent 40 bucks on it, only cause I kept messing up. Get the black limo tints from Autozone. they wont turn purple. Just look at my profile pics. Can you tell that I did it myself. I've done it on my old car and my brother's car too, so I had a little experience already though.

there's a tinting solution you'll need too. or use water mixed with baby shampoo, and apply the tint with a squeezy to the window while the window is wet with your solution.

Wow, sounds like the proffesional tinting in the US is cheap!
If you think $150 is an expensive price, I had to pay £150 (that converts to roughtly $300) and that was at a cheap price!

Anyways, I digress; I'd definetley reccommend going for a proffesional job because it's pretty much guarenteed to come out perfect without any bubbles, creases or cuts (depending how good the tinting place is).

I got 5% tints and had them done for $110...they had to take off my old tints which made the price as high as it was...so going proffesional i think i the way to go to avoid any mistakes and to get quality tints that wont turn purple.

you may find similar prices or cheaper, but ask what tint they use...specifically ask them if it's SolarGuard.
most places use it, and it's crap.

ok heres the legallities in ohio:
--- ANY TINT APPLIED TO ANY WINDOW DIRECTLY TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT CAN TRANSMIT NO LESS THAN 50% OF LIGHT (GIVE OR TAKE 3%) so technically speaking you can have it 47% visible on each of the sides

--- ANY TINT APPLIED TO THE WINDSHIELD MUST BE 70% VISIBLE (GIVE OR TAKE 3%) and that tint at the top can only be up to 5 inches down

--- NO RED OR YELLOW OR REFLECTIVE TINT IN ANY WAY, any other color is allowed

--- ALL TINT MUST HAVE A MANUFACTURERS NAME LISTED IF APPLIED AFTER 1990 i dont think cops give two ****s on that one

all these rules of course include the glaze already on the factory windows, hence the 3% rule... the little back side windows and the rear can be blacked out basically... as long as the side view mirrors work smile.gif

answer all questions? smile.gif
keep in mind this is in OHIO other states vary...

i tinted over 250 car in the last 10 years as a side job to make a few bucks here and there. The average price for a car is 150 give or take a couple bucks. The kind of tint you get and how good of a job the person did putting it on the window will decide how long it will last! I hope you dont decide to buy cheap tint. If you have never tinted b4 and you figure all the time you will put toward trying tinting yourself with parts and materials you are better off paying to have it done. I am sure if you bring your car to me or a good shop that you will be able to see the difference from when you di it yourself. When i do a back window it is 1 peice of tint. You can not do that with the smaller rolls so you will need 2 rolls just for the back window!
2 rolls for a back window = $30
2 rolls for both sides = $30
materials will cost you about = $15
your total is $75 and you will spend 5-6 hours trying to get it to look good.
2 more rolls of tint after you mess it up = $105

Just bring your cheap but here for 2 hours and have me do it for the $130
(That is cheap around here.)
It will look good!!!!!!
Steve's car is a good example of my tinting skill

Don't complain guys. I have told you about our insane prices before. My local shop want 600$ to tint my back window (hatch) and my two small read windows.

So go tint your windows professionaly for 150$ and be happy. smile.gif

how would you go 10% on the fronts? most you can have is 50% and why would you go 30% on the back with 30 % and what do you mean sides noticeable more lol i was thinking like on the small ones in the back and the rear put like 20% on and then 50 on the front. that sound ok or cool??

State by State Tint Laws

Hope this helps you guys out. I got mine done professionaly 22% all the way around, it was around 150 with the front strip plus lifetime warranty. I've also tried to tint my old car with the cheap walmart tint and it didn't come out too bad, but the professional looks so much better, and was much less stressful.
