The XRS is also a front wheel drive, comes standard with 6 speed. I hate watching my RPM flying 3700~ when I'm only going 80mph along with the traffic... Sometimes I just wish I could shift to 6th to lower the freakin' RPM..

Prolly a lot more work then you think. What series motor is in the matrix?

I mean, anythings possible, but if you really want to save money on gas, you should prolly just get car w/ the 6 speed tranny, that or drive the speed limit 55mph.

I think some of those matrix and vibes came with a 180hp 1.8 liter. Could be the same as the 7th gen celica. In which chase the answer would be, anything possable with money. I hate giving that answer. It still couldn't be to bad. If you feel like doing something different, go for it.

I could do it.

http://www.phoenixtuning.com/

Check out "Completed Swaps" then "Hellish Mantis" it's a 2ZZGE swap into a '98 Corolla, plus other goodies.

Since you have an ST, it's the same deal, pretty much. Full custom swap, but a great choice.

just get some 19" with some 45 tires and your rpm will be lower..

it adds some bling also!

You could do without the 19s and just get larger tires. That will lower your acceleration though, it effectively lengthens your gears.
