Well, I thought I would post this picture as a "before" shot because my exterior modifications are getting done when I get my skirts and wheels which are both taking forever. I expect to have them both shortly. I will add the "after" pics when she is complete.

user posted image

These pics were taken at the car wash at 9pm tonight just for you guys. Obviously, they are not the best but will hopefully give you a taste of the new exterior.

OEM rear extensions, JDM dealer option sides, GT4 front, wings west mid spoiler, and new wheels and tires. I just have to wait to receive the wheels and sideskirts.

I am bumping this up because my body work is going to be done the week of November 14. Then I will post pics of the new exterior (sans the skirts of course).

Turbo will follow shortly thereafter.

YAAAHHOOOO.....

I'm confused. Doesn't your profile indicate you already have most of these mods, and the pics suggest it too. What's the deal? Did you go back to stock at some point. Sorry to be clueless.

Nah. The picture shown is the car with the 3sgte. The rims in my profile were sold to Kdash because I wanted new ones. I put the stockers back on until they came. I took that picture in May. The new wheels and spacers are installed and I am having the GT4 front end and new spoiler installed next week. The only thing left is new turbo, skirts and new seats. Then, I will be on to my next project.

LOL! it already died once, Notice the original post date. It's called proper board etiquette. When you have news related to a thread you've already created you bump that topic so the boards aren't cluttered. IMHO you're post sucks and is kinda pointless.

Mine is also in the body shop, I'll give a before and after pic when she's done. for now I'm just putting on 404 skirts and front lip, along with some laser fenders. I'm going from stock red to a nice blue. Next plans are for some jdm tails.

I bought them from bulletproofautomotive.com. They are about $225 for the pair IIRC. The wait was long but these are VERY nice units. They are designed to reduce body flex. I don't know if they will help. To be honest, the car doesn't flex much the way it is. DGPerformance makes some knock-off units and he claims that they helped alot.

About the braces... If you've ever jacked the front of your car up then rested it on jackstands on both sides you'll notice the amount of flex when the jack is lowered. It's quite extreme and I've noticed it on both my 97 and 94 hatches. Anything that stiffens the chasis will have some effect on handling. I'd suspect that these braces in conjunction with a good strut tower bar would be a great addition to any Celica.

Update: all body work is done and all is installed except putting on the front bumper. New exhaust is complete and installed. Turbo kit is bolted on. Besides putting on the bumper, the only thing left is fabrication of the downpipe. No more progress pictures yet. The bad news is that I won't get her back tomorrow and because we are going out of town for the holiday, I will pick her up next Sunday.....the wait continues.

Its a street car and low end torque is important for deriving the benefits of power (at least for the way I drive). Also, the GT28RS will max out the usefulness of the AFM. Any larger turbo would require a standalone to derive the additional benefit which, although I am considering, I hope I can do without.

If you are asking why I chose it over other similar sized turbos, the fact of the matter is that I believe it to be the best option available for <320whp.

Minor update:

I pick up the car tomorrow. I talked with my mechanic today and he told me that the new turbo has made 1st gear useless at WOT due to traction and the speed at which the car hits redline. Good problems to have I would say....

I see some wide sticky tires in my future....

Well, I got home tonight after dark so no pics to show yet. Sorry guys. I will do my best to take some tomorrow.

The body work looks like it just came off the showroom.

Driving impressions: its scary fast. The fabrication and other work is impeccable. I am very pleased.

Well, right now it is not tuned. We put a wideband on it and ran it pretty hard at 14psi today and the experience was breath taking. The A/F ratios stayed below 11.9 which is generally safe but a little higher than I was thinking with the 550's untuned. Closed loop is rediculously rich. While tuning with my application is not necessary for safety reasons, it would likely improve gas milage dramatically and probably add another 20whp - which I am not sure I really need in this beast.

I am posting some exterior shots in this thread. I have a bunch of pictures of the new exhaust and intercooler piping. I am also going to take some of the turbo kit but you won't see much because I was able to retain the stock heat shield! I will start another thread in the FI forum for those.

I would buy from you in heart beat Dustin...I have admired your work. They are fogs from a 92 ford tempo. They look almost OEM. Can't beat em for $40 from the junk yard.
