im planning on buying 17x8s 35 offset rims with 225-45 tires. i know tte has this setup and it fits on his car, but im wondering if it would fit on a car that has sportline 1.5in springs? anyone got a similar setup ?

I have wondered the same thing and did a search in the members ride section. The two guys on here that I know are running 225/45/17 are Mina and another guy with a black car...I think his name is something like transx... or something. As I recall, they are both on stock suspension but report no rubbing. Also, Coomer has posted a picture of a white car with 8" wide wheels with 35 offset where the owner reports no rubbing with either the fender or suspension. If thats true, your only question is going to be the drop. If you get that size tire, let me know your results.

Jay.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

dead center of the wheel i 0 offset
the higher the number the more away from the car, the lower(negative) the more in...
deep dish chromies have negative numbers

edit: putting it in simple ways(how i picture it)...
imagine a car with 0 offset and the wheel fit in the fender well perfectly, then you go and try to put on a -10offset wheel...the wheel then sticks out from the car too much. iunno, i'm stupid and have to picture the wheel being mounted and imagine the flat spot on the back of the spokes hitting the hub.

Largos - I think you should be fine man.

I run 18x8s with 225/40's and a 25-30mm drop and have no problems.

If ET35's clear the calipers on the Four, they should work....

1010tires.com has not only an explanation and diagrams of offset, it actually has an offset calculator so you can determine if your wheel is going to rub.

Check how much clearance you have between your stock wheel/tire combo and the wheel well. That's how much room you have to play with (accounting for suspension travel first, of course). Then run compare the stock figures with the new wheel and tire combo on the 1010tires.com calculator. It'll show you how much of a difference there is. BTW, remember that altering your overall diametre will alter your speedo accuracy (calculator will tell you how much).

I have 17x8 wit 35 offset and 225/45/17 on TRD springs. They don't rub and the ride feels softer then previously using 215/45/17rubber.

TTE, do you know how much of a drop your trd springs are? i think they are the same as the prokit eibach 1in drop. do you still have some wheel gap where you feel you could install 1.5in springs and be ok ?

can you take some close up pics of your wheels and how much gap there is now ?

Take a look at my profile. Those are 17s on TRD springs. The TRD's are much closer to the sportlines than the prokit in terms of drop - despite the popular belief on this site.

all the documentation on the TRD springs say 1"...which is the prokit drop...but it definetly looks like more of a "sportline" drop to me.

lagos, i'm not sure how much help this will be to u, but i have a 17x7 wheel but i have 235/45/17 tires. As long as u do 225 u should be able to drop no problem. but with 235 theres no way it'll no rub if u drop.

This is the only updated pic I have for now.
With 235/45/17 rubber you not able to spin wheels at the back if you have side skirts.
I know that 235/40/17 fit but I would like to see pic first.
