Top Speed, What's your top speed? Options

This is for ya'll that have taken your Celica REDLINE.
About 14 months ago I hit 119 mph, I have a full stock 95 ST with a 7A- FE engine.

i've taken my gt to 124-125 on the highway, but it takes forever! hopefully won't take as long when i get my headers

I saw 210 kph (~130 mph) with my not so standart ST, the tacho arow was on the redline.

Best - 210 kmh = 131.25 mph (Down hill, wind assisted)
Flat-out motorway/freeway - 205 kmh = 128.125 mph
Stock European 105 bhp 1997 (10.96) 1.8 ST Hatchback 7A-FE engine.

Intake and Open ehaust I ran 142 mph down a very big hill in TN. Luckly I was already running 120 when I hit the hill. Today on Flat land lol It takes forever to reach 120-125 LOL

I have hit 135 on a open highway. Felt like my car was going to fall apart so wont be trying that again any time soon :0)

125 is all I can get. I stayed on it for about 10 minutes too. I was at 4 grand maintaing the same speed. I had to stop because my leg cramped up.

Actualy not that much. My gov. was on in full effect and it was a flat road the RPM's would be at 4 than down and that back up when the car slowed down. You should see how much gas I loose going the wisp to ski in western MD. I try to maintain a steady speed of 95 up and down the mountains

I've pulled up to about 110 to 115 on the highway, but it gets a tad scary so I back off because of pussyitis. I imagine at about 145 our chink cars probably would fall apart .

132 straight stretch, thats pretty much all she had, I get up to 120 pretty quick, 125 decent, 130 takes some time, lol.

Throw a shot of nitrous to it and hit it around 120 and see if you can bust up around 145 or 150 or jsut BUST UP THE CAR. Might fall apart at that fast of speed!

3sgte heavily modififed: don't know yet... will find out this spring!

will say that at 140+ the car starts to create ALOT of downforce am kinda scared that I might scrape at those speeds after I lower the car.

It wasn't the car that topped out it was my g/f that topped out... didn't like her grabbing my arm at 142mph so I slowed down.

You have a standard 1.8 ST?
You should be able to hit 205kph.

(kph - mph calculation: kph x 5 / 8 = mph, for example, 195 x 5 / 8 = 121.875)

yes i'm from belgium and i have a 1.8 st

it did 200 a few days back on a flat road and very very slowly goes a very very little bit faster
so yes it might just hit 205 after 10 minutes of pushing the pedal to the metal

but as soon as my audio install is done i'd like to do some performance mods... and make it a bit more powerfull...
although topspeed aint that important to me... i'd rather have it accelerate a bit faster!

I think that I posted some ideas of what I am going to do with my 97 1.8 ST.

My ST accelerates up to about 160/180 OK, thereafter, it is slow as well - it needs pushing!

I hit 140+ at which point I realised one of my wheel bearings wasn't having any of
it.Jap Cars have limiters but the speedo chip conversion from km/h to mph can
fool the car into thinking its travelling slower so I don't know what point it would
have kicked in.....

the top speed that any st 1.8 is 135. the fuel line and internals shut off the fuel at 135. some of you should try it sometime. i was racing an SI on the interstate and when i hit 135 i thought i F#$%^ed something up, but i soon found out that the fuel cuts off right there.

I've hit 115 on flatland...i don't think it would go any faster cuz of the gov. Anybody know how to take that stuff off? I heard something about a chip to fool the car into thinking it's going slower than it really is...more info? Any other ways to get past the gov?

AS FOR THE FUEL SHUTTING OFF AT 135MPH, THAT IS FOR A REASON! YOU PUSH A STOCK 1.8 ANY FASTER YOU ARE REALLY GONNA HURT IT AND NOT TO MENTION AN AUTOMATIC TRANNY WON'T TAKE THAT ABUSE FOR LONG! I'M THE MASTER OF BURNING OUT AUTOMATICS. CHEVY, MITSUBISHI, FORD AND DODGE HAVE ALL BEEN MY VICTIMS! WELL, THE DODGE WAS A GIVEN! ANYWAY, YOU MAY WANT TO DO SOME SLIGHT MODS BEFORE YOU PUSH IT THAT HARD, THEY ARE TOUGH MOTORS BUT DON'T MAKE A HABIT OF IT! I have a stock standard st204 powered by a 5f-se and i have hit 200 km/h
(125 m/h?!?) on a five km stretch with a ever so slight downhill anybody in the car with me always says it only feels like 120km/h

But anyone can go fast straight the real skill is who can go fast round the corners

ive only reached 115 when governor kicked in mods i had where a cold air intake and no exhaust (just header ) and was running less than 1 gallon of fule
