I raced an Audi Quattro today. It was a really good race. I love those kind, were it's about as close as it can get. I like them, win or lose. I thought the car was a VW Cabrio, but it had four circle things on the back, and I found out it was the Audi. The thing is, this thing is suposed to have 165hp. I'm modded, but not much. The car is also suposed to be AWD, so maybe that's what counted for the win. I know he was trying, because after I out ran him, he did the ricer flyby, and kept going. Very nice looking car. I'm kinda happy, because it's nice to be reminded that I can outrun a cuple things on the road. Anyone know any more about these Quattros?

It depends on the year but those 1.8T can be crazy fast with just a ecu reflash. My friend used to have a 96 2.8 quattro and it felt pretty fast considering the weight its carrying around.

Im assuming you mean the Quattro Coupe, sold here from 83 to 85 ? If so, the car was designed specifically to be a car that could win rallies- and therefore it has lots of potential in terms of tuning. Even unmodded, the car makes 160 hp and 181 lb of torque, and weighs in at just over 2200 lbs. This is why the car is quick. age probably accounted for the car's poor performance. Europeans had evolution models that made MUCH more power, and they also got the short wheelbase S1 monster. This car is NOT to be confused with the same-bodied coupe GT that was sold here from 82 to 87... I agree that this car looks good, I think it still is remarkably fresh for a 25 year old design. Everybody was shocked in geneva in 1980 when the car debued to the public- a 4WD sportscar, with 5 cylinders no less? They laughed the car off until the Algrave Rally at the end of 1980- one car was allowed to be a timed "reece" car- If the car was competing in the rally- it would have won by 26 Minuetes! Subsequent rally models produced anywhere from 300 to 550 HP, so the engine is defenitly capable in these cars to crush a lot newer machinery. Another interesting note is that the first rally quattros were NOT Group B machines, they were group 4. The phenominal sucess of the auti lead the FIA to revise the classification system, and in turn Group B was created so other manufacturers could create equally wild machines. All of them are cool cars in my eyes.

Is this the car you mean?

It looked newer. Seriously, it had the rounder headlight design. They weren't sunken in. If I see the guy again, I'll ask him what year it is.

This is the 90-91 quattro coupe (much slower and heavier than the previous generation, think hatch 80 series)

This is the Audi Cabriolet, 94-98- slightly more power than the above coupe, same chassis, more weight. Not sporty as well...

is it either one of these?

It was that top one. It was red, with aftermarket wheels and exhaust. He had it cleaned up really nice. I look forward to seeing this guy around again. I'd like to race him again (EDIT: A little more propper this time, last time wasn't as controled as I like it).

If you really didn't want to say anything, then you shouldn't have posted in the first place. Saying, "nevermind. i'm gonna be nice.", makes you look like a jerk. If you have valuable info, please post it, I'm always willing to lesson. Just don't type these little comments. I'd rather you told me I was dumb, or my car is slow than saying a little smart-aleck comment like that.

i'm not being a smartass. just b/c i choose not to tell you f*ckin stupid you are for racing, doesn't mean i'm a jerk. all these race threads are stupid. if you're gonna race, do it at a track. keep it off the streets.

See, was that so hard? Thanks for giving me enough respect to type what you had to say. I know street racing isn't a good idea, but I believe in safe street racing, if there is such a thing. I think it would be better if no one ever raced on the street anymore. I come from a smaller town were traffic is minimal, and it's not hard to find an open road. Either way, you have your opinion, and I have mine.

Common guys, please don't turn this into that. If anyone knows any more about that car, I'd like to hear it.

Yeah don't turn this into that, Bush could make a 30 minute commercial with facts proving street racing isn't that bad and people still wouldn't believe it, but not everything ends up like the media claims. Nice run bulldog, i've been hunting this '00 A4 1.8T near my house for a while, it's fun to beat an Audis and BMWs since people put them on an ungodly level, they do make slow ones though.

Yeah, it was pretty satisfying to beat this guy. I'd still rather meet him for a better race. I bet I'd get stomped by that thing in a rally, or maybe even a road course. The AWD might give him a good edge on everything but drag. I'm in the market for some sort of sport VW or Audi now. I like how boxy a lot are, and some are pretty fast.

For some reason cars with less than 190 hp and AWD tend to be weak in the drag or highway runs, look at the 2.5 RS, it's 165 hp and very slow, I took an '02 Lancer OZ to one in an autox, never could pass on the straights, but I only had 120 hp, either way if I had the Celica then the RS wouldn't have stood a chance.

No. I haven't been online for a few days, so I haven't seen what's been said here. I just wanted to say that it was stupid. I don't want people to look back on this post and think for the least bit that I am supporting your statement here. Never, ever, ever, race on open public roads through turns. This is how people die. This is the most retarded thing someone can do. You can't see around a turn, and it could be something you really don't want to hit, like a child. I'm very angry right now that anyone can even think I would support a statement like this. You, RedSunCelica, need to have your lisence taking away for even saying something like that. You only race in no traffic, on a strate, and never above 100mph, and 90% of the time there no need to go over 60-70. I do not condone your type of street racing. If you want to turn, go to a track.
