basically, i post this at 3 in the morning because an excursion that happend not 30 minutes ago. my parents a respectful home owners w/ 1 dog and 3 cats (only one that lives outside) and the dog is inside only .... they set up a live trap to catch the dastardly racoons that occupy our area and tend to steal our cat food, no big right? just cat food and thats all it has been for the past 5 years living in this house, none of our cats have been killed cuz of another animal. which at this point i dunno if its me but i find it pretty cruel to live trap a animal just to drag the trap to the nearby rocks (right next to the celi) to shoot it, keep this in mind im hoping nothing ricochets off the rocks and some how nails my car or the blood splatter. me living in the sticks all my life you'd think i'd be pretty accustomed to things being killed by a gun... yeah im not... my parents think im weird. but i couldnt watch them kill it i had to turn my music up on the head phones and drown it out. this thing didnt go down with a fight neither - it released it self of all its bodily possesions, poop and all. staining the deck. on inspection of the dead body i noticed his teeth had crowding and major plaque build up (my mother is a hygeniest... she was joking around) but the reason of this post was to get on what people think of live trapping an animal then killing it... confused.gif

I couldnt do it...

My parents couldnt do it either. When raccoons are in their back yard they dont get a trap out...they get the camera out! They think its hilarious when the raccoons eat the cat food lol. My dads little dog was out there one night & chased one under the deck which was scary but luckily nothing happened to him...

The only trap they ever bought was a mouse trap called a "mouse cube" it traps it inside then u can release it safely outside haa...They dont kill spiders either! They catch them & let them outside...I kil them though tongue.gif frikin spiders!

So Aaron, did ur mom clean his teeth???...jk....

weird I just checked & my dads photography section on his web site has this picture...see what did I tell you! tongue.gif Lol

if you dont like the racoons eating the cat food- dont keep the food outside so they can get it... I see no point in killing a wild animal that has become accustomed to being "fed" because they have learned that its a consistant supply of food...

I can understand quick posts, but for stories can we at least read over what we've written before posting?

That aside, it does seem kinda messed up. You should teach your parents a lesson irony-style. Trap them in a cage and pop 'em a few times with paintballs.

i like racoons. we have more possums out here than racoons. i hate possums. id shoot everyone of them if i could. they breed like crazy out here and get rabies. my neighbor the old man loves cats and feeds the whole lot of strays here. every once in a while at night i come across a possum eating cat food and fighting with the cats. i have no problem killing animals there just has to be a good reason for it.
