I dont have a picture of it, but I was coming home from seattle the other day when an old Celica, had to be 80's, pulled up next to my right, and a silver 7th gen on my left. I looked to my left and saw the guy looking at me with that "you wanna go?!!" look on his face, and his girlfriend was laughing at me... so I punched it.. weaving in and out of traffic and all that shiz-nizzle. When I got up to where there werent anymore cars, because they were all stuck behind Semi's the 80's one pulled up laughing because he took off after me and we both smoked the 7th Gen.. later the 7th gen came rolling up in between us and we both laughed at him and took off again.... good day it was...

PS. Why is it that we love the older celicas and stuff, but we HATE the 7th gen.. I find it to be true, but why? I just cant put my finger on the reason why I hate the 7th gens.

1. not really a rally car - obviously!
2. the owners have no respect for previous gen celica owners. HELLO! WITHOUT OUR CARS YOU WOULD NOT HAVE A CELICA :-) of course not ALL 7th gen owners are like this

7gens are too girly designed IMO, i look at it and its a girls car.

All I know is that Coomer is a 4th gen whore, if there was a fan club he would be the president of it, & he doesnt hate us ....for obvious reasons though!

Not at all. I'm one of the Admin's at 4Gcelica.net and I came REALLY close to picking up a 6th gen about a month ago. Insurance wouldn't let me get the car.

I think its because like natalie said and some other things:

-No rally history
-Not a real evolution of the celica IMO
-Specifications, only a "simple" 1.8 engine
-More a luxery car (like Lexus) instead of a real sports coupe/hatchback
-No convertible
-Aftermarket support is huge, thats why a lot of boys want it so they can rice it out!!!

I really dont understand the whole disliking 7th gens thing... The only thing i really dislike about them is that their interiors have way more cheap materials in them compared to our 6th gens... The only celicas I can truely say I hate on are the 2nd and 3rd gen liftbacks... Very dated... I'd kill for a nice 3rd gen coupe, though

4th gen and 5th gen and some of the All-Trac people seem to dislike the 6th gen for the same reason they dislike the 7th gen: a lot of people rice them out. At least that is the vibe I got. I used to have a similar oppinion. I started coming here though and realized that you guys are just like me, except with more money and nicer cars. lol. In all honesty, I used to hate the 7th gen Celica but I have grown to like it... long as its not a plain old GT with hubbies. I like seeing what people can do to cars, but there is a limit. Gives me ideas for the future... the very distant future, where money is no object, and my brain has fully developed... lol

I think that you guys are right when you suggest that one reason the 7th gen is not so liked is b/c of the NON-Rally-car thing.

But, I think that uncontiously we dont care for them b/c of how popular the 7th gen ones got. It is really nice to have a car (like the 6th gen) that people can truly appreciate when they see/own them since not every block has one parked on the street. And, of course the fact that they are just the best looking car ever.

I have to admit, i dont "hate" the 7th gen, per say, but they really don't do anything for me either. But show me a 6th gen and my blood temp goes up from the excitment!!! I wish that I could shake myself of the love for this car. But I just can't!
