I wouldn't be suprised if you got flamed my coupe owners for this.

But damn, hatchbacks looks so much better.

Well they're entitled to their opinion on why the liftback body style is superior biggrin.gif
And there's been too much "I love this, I love that, look at this video" on the forums recently. We need a scuffle.

Hatchbacks are plain sexy.

No one likes a flat ass.

Practicality wise all that space is intoxicating wink.gif That and I think the more rounded shape of the tail and trunk lid match better with the curves of the car.

In the 6GC world, liftbacks are everywhere... might as well be a civic with integra rims and primer

ever had to sit in the back of your liftback? How'd you like having your neck cocked like you were reppin' the west side?

besides all that, the only reason I can honestly see why a liftback would be better would be for the stiffer sport suspention package, possibly cargo carrying, since the coupe has a very tricky opening (the size improvement of a liftback is negligable with seats up)... My buddy has a 98 GT Liftback, and lemme tell you, his backseat SUCKS compared to mine (im 6 foot)...

In my opinion, all gens except the 5th (and obviously 7th) looked better coupe... call me biased, but tough sh!t... My car is WAY more rare then ANY of your liftbacks... I can count on 2 hands how many 6G coupes ive seen in person, how many cars can you say that about?

very true. the coupes are way more rare than the hatchbacks and the reason why there is less headspace in the back is because of the sloping glass. im 5'11 and i hit my head on the glass alot without slouching frown.gif im biased towards hatches because im a hatchback freak tongue.gif but the coupe and convertable look pretty sweet to me just not as sweet wink.gif

ooo yeh dude more cargo/sex space. I've camped in the back of mine before with my girl. folded the seats down and inflated a small bed back there. pretty comfy

Where is the choice for: "none of the above"?

Coupes are sexier and look wider from the rear.

Coupes > Hatches.

LOL, Awsome statment.
yeah there is not head space.

I think it just looks much more sport oreanted, sedans have the econamy look, a hb is all about the sports car look.

lol I love the sex space too, fold down the back seat and lay out the sleeping bag, and you got a great shot of the night sky wilsed getting down. (and the tint keeps the peepers away.) now I just need the girl, giggity giggity

Etzels are rare too.

But come on now, this wasn't a question of whether or not one style was better, but why the liftback is better.
Notice not one vert person has gotten all defensive. That's because they read the poll and are smart vert people. tongue.gif

Thats under the assumption that the hatch is better, which its not. Fact of the matter is that it is more common so people who have a car are more likely to say what they have is better.

I personally think that tis question should just get buried. Every month someone makes a post about this stupid thing, like the forum isnt divided enough we gotta argue about which Celica is better? C'mon now, arent there better threads that can be created, maybe ones that someone actually might get a kick out of?

I prefer the hatch but I prefer all hatches over the coupe counterparts (Mustangs mostly, oh and the 240SX) I do like the design of the Curren though, it reminds me of a Sylvia.

Well duh. That was the point. We all modify our cars so making reasonable comparisons based on stock designs is laughable. And that's what I'm doing. Laughing. People are trading hilarious barbs and other people are totally taking offense.

And it's all way more amusing than people writing posts about themselves that no one reads.

The forum is divided? Can we have a dance fight like in West Side Story?
