I have a friend of a friend who wants to race in his 94 mustang (v6), I have a 94 celica (2.2), would it be a close race? My car is totally stock performance wise while his has intake, exhaust, and some other minor stuff like plugs. So far I can tell with 135 hp and 145 tq weighing close to 2600 lbs (little less) and his is about 3000 lbs but has around 215 tq and 145 hp should be an ok race, but with equal drivers (both 5 speed btw) who would you put your money on?

Depends on how well u do at the time, if not i'd think the Stang would win.

No he'll take you in 1st - since 1st and 2nd have the most torque and he has more torque - he'll win, its just a more powerful car, and its only 400lb difference between u 2.

v6 mustang, what a joke.

but sadly that torque he has will help him out a lot in getting that extra 400lbs moving but it doesnt have a lot of HP and the mods he did dont help that much. from a stop he will probably take you, 15mph rolling, might be closer.

race him for the hell of it, and after you start putting mods on, you can race him again and see the difference each mod makes

umm i thought that celicas wieght like 2417 at the most for a hatchback.

coupes and convertibles weigh less than that.

I raced the stang, while stock and the bastard won. he won 1rst, i started to catch up in 2nd - and never did.

However, that was b4 the denso's, injen intake and exhaust.

The injen being the most notable difference. in performance, sound and mileage

If anyone is looking for mods in any certain order - I would change the intake first!

I might race him tonight if hes down, also remember those mustangs (even the v6 model) has gobs of torque also my car is bone stock while his has a few mods, may not be much but could be the difference in a race.

With his mods, I believe it would mainly be a drivers race. If you are both equal drivers it will just depend on who gets a better launch. Not to mention tire selection. Stickier tires help.

I find that hilarious. I ran that accross a Mustang owner that I know...I can't wait to see his reaction. He's always bashing my car, after all.

I have some respect for only few certain domestic cars(year/type). 94GT mustang is sooo crappy slow! Hmm..I just realized that i don't fear many cars. Them mustangs can be crazy fast. Watch out if you starting from a roll.

Well I lost, the first run he crept up ahead of me and got a head start so it wasnt really a race.... the 2nd run I noticed he kept on creeping except this time i crept a little bit too but not much so he got the run on me, i started to catch up but stopped at around 70 since I think the noise was attracting truckers (we raced on a deserted industrial type road) so he got me at about a cars length, btw he also had lsd or something too he mentioned, wish I coulda raced him on a track would have been better, couldnt even tell if we were lined up right and the bastard kept rolling forward instead of being a dead stop like me. When I get me some new spark plug wires (mine are shot) and new tires (shot also) gonna have to race again and see how it goes.

replacing the spark plugs and the tires would have a big impact (if both are shot) with your tires you need more traction and yor spark plugs wont produce enough spark at higher rpms. I also have no mods done to my car, but in top mechanical condition I have been able to outrun many v6 mustangs and camaros, even a few gt mustangs.

And those car stats on that web site dont seem to be very acurate when I looked at them. they seem to be more like guesses???

Hey, tell me more about these Denso's. Think they're worth it?

I love my Denso Iridium plugs. Not exactly a hp type upgrade, but when I installed the plugs with a set of Vitek wires, my mpg jumped from 30 to 33.

It's probably also the gearing that gets him off the line quicker - he will change to 2nd and 3rd at much different stages to you me thinks.
