Well im going to be getting a paycheck in a week or so and I want to get a cat back exhaust built. So with is this a good muffler and what else would I need for a cat back system or could I just take the muffler to an exhuast shop and have them do 2.25 from the cat back?

I just bought the Magnaflow Street 6" round (14813) last week to replace my 3 year old Focuz one. It looked ugly to me but once installed, I loved how it looked...much better than the other one and way better sound. smile.gif

I'm looking for the same kind of setup, the magnaflow gives a good rich exhaust note? i don't have the money to drop on a greddy sp2, and am kind of looking for something more original than just "hey this works for our car and 50% of people have it"

and just for note, what is the stock diameter of our exhaust piping?

*EDIT* I also don't know much about Magnaflow mufflers for our cars. I love them for 5.0 Mustangs (I had a 5.0, my friend has gone through more than 7) and they are the absolute best sounding and performing for them. The same applies for our cars?

Do you guys think that getting the race series mufler from magnaflow instead of a street series would make that much of a difference in sound and I still wondering if I can just take the muffler to the exhuast shop and they will put it on I dont need anything else?

see this is what im talking about i have the greddy sp but im kinda bored of it and was wonderin if there is anything better out there u know. i want to get a straight pipe all the way back almost and put a good muffler on it. is magnaflow good, that is the ? and is there a gain at all with it or should i just stick with my sp and just cut it a little bit so it does not have all them curves on it

is greddy that good of a exhaust system then just a straight pipe and a high quality muffler

the only thing with the "race" series is that its a more straight thru design. i "think" most of the inlets on the race series are 3" also

manny....all the "street" mufflers are straight through with no deviation....its the pipe size (inlet and through muffler) and body length that make them race.......race mufflers are shorter in body length...and their inlets are 3.5" and 4"

no, player. the INLETS are 2.25" or 3" on the race series, i think your thinking of the TIP which is 4" and either 4" or 7" long.(depending on model)

from the magnaflow page:
The Street Series is designed for the souped up street machine. It features a high flow tuning tube, balanced to the needs of the high revving import engine. The Street Series emits a smooth, deep tone while offering improved performance over OEM equipment. The Street Series is recommended for street cars with bolt-on performance modifications and custom body kits.

The Race Series is designed for the ultimate in high performance and an aggressive racecar sound. It features a true straight-through design for maximum high RPM pulling power and a 2.5" or 3" perforated core to virtually eliminate backpressure and maximize exhaust flow. The Race Series is recommended for the serious racer, turbo, nitrous oxide fuel systems, or wild cam applications.

I have ordered a magnaflow muffler and still trying to decide on how to run the rest of the exhaust... I was thinking do the 2.25" cat back... but not sure if I want to leave resonator in or out.....

What do you all think would sound the best?

.....I do want a nice loud sound... the last one i had sounded great but wasn't the volume i was looking for... frown.gif

so should i even bother with 2.25" cat back or just put on the magna flow muffler? do you think it would sound better if i did the larger pipe even with stock cat and res?

Should I try to get Mandrel bent? too expensive?

I second that motion from personal experience. Gets too loud right under your seat b/c that is the location of the resonator.
