I got the first set. The back is the same. The front is different. If your car is not lowered, it doesn't matter which set you get. If you have a lowered car, the original front bar will rub on the undercarriage and make an awful sound particularly under hard accelleration or cornering.

The new front bar is as smooth as butter. The sway bar mod was definitely the mod that made the most difference in "feel" of the car.....well, right behind the 3sgte that is...... biggrin.gif

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

I had the old set on my last celica and I will agree the best mod I did to that car, although I never had that "rubbing" problem. I will be ordering them begining of next week cant wait to get the suspension done so the celi will be fun to drive

The front rubbing was due to the car being lowerd. Non-lowerd cars were fine.

Are the new versions out then im guessing?

come to think of it... It was a long time ago but I think I had to bend in some of the floor pan so the bar didnt hit. My bad it was along time ago. Picking up my car tomarrow, probably be placing my order this week for my suspension.

I odered mine already, I got the first shipment of stuff in today, Eibach sportlines, kyb shocks, kenwood cd player, rockford amp, infinity sub. The amp deck and sub are in, waiting for the sway bars to arrive to install the rest of the parts.

If nobody calls or emails them I might....this should be the next step for me, but first I'll get used to the Tein coilover setup and see if it needs anything.

Sorry It took so long to reply, but yes they are the new ones, the front install is a piece of cake, the back is quite challenging. I had to drop the gas tank, and pull off the control arms on one side then it was lots of twisting and convincing to get it in. They are great once they are in though, deffinatly love my ride on the sportlines, kyb shocks, and ST sway bars. The ride quality is great, I need some bracing, and I definatly think the shocks are a weekest link in the system, so I will eventually upgrade to the koni yellows.

I know you didn't ask me but I will respond anyway. smile.gif Next to the 3s, the sway bars were the best performance mod I have done. 50mph right turn on-ramps are quite fun.

I deffinatly think these are worth the time and the money. This is my second celica and I had them on my last one as well. They have come down in price and still have the same great effect on the way the car handles. I cannot think of a downside to them.

Looks like sportcompactonly.com will sell you the front and rear seperately. Good news cause only the front causes a problem for me.

I dont think they mean the ride as much, but the handleing. These wont change your ride at all. Thats what springs and struts will do. I think it does however complete the suspension if your not just going for the lowered look.

I have not yet got these, but will soon, and was told by three friends that do auto-x and they say these will make the biggiest diff.

they do effect the stiffness of the suspension. You will feel bumps more, for example, your left tire goes over a bump more of that bump will be transfered into the right side and the chasis of the car because the sway bar is a spring and now you are making that spring stiffer. With that said, no it wont change ride quality worth mentioning, after 1 drive you will not realize the stiffness increase. I will stand by what I say about these, best mod for the celica short of a turbo motor.

No I undid the hangers so I had more play in it, but I would recomend just removing it. I think that might be easier, I just didnt want to get into cutting the bolts off and replacing them.

I cant give a great comparison, between the old sway bars and the new ones, my last celica was a coupe with GC springs I cant rember the rates, old ST sway bars, and 215/45/17 tires. My current setup is eibach sportlines, and the new ST sway bars, with crap for tires untill spring. I have to sway though in both situations they were the best mod done to the car.

The old ones will thump the underside of the car if it's lowered. That's the only way. Unless your buying some off ebay or something, there's nothing to worry about. I contacted Nopi, and they told me that anything they sell would be the new ones, I don't imagin places still have the old ones setting around.

Ask the seller when purchased and were from. That's all I know to do. I've never seen any on ebay. I watched it for a long time too. There has to be a shop or company you can get them from in Canada. Valo666 has gotten a good bit of stuff for his car up there.
