So I opened up a savings account today to start saving for my move to So-Cal next summer.

I was wondering if some of the so-cal people can help me out! I need some names of some apartments/cities that are relatively cheap but in a good area and where the Celica will be safe. Id like a one bedroom but i will take a studio if i need to. I wanna be less than an hour from the beach.

If you guys could give me names of Apartments that would be awesome!

Id like to live somewhere between San Diego and LA!

Thanks everyone! :-)

Hmm, between SD and LA is big, where exactly are you looking for? I mean, you want close to City or don't care or..... Around where I live (La Jolla, San Diego) single bedroom apartment that's close to beach (10 min drive, walking distance is much more) is around $1050~$1200 depending on the time of sign up (off season is cheaper, Aug, Sep is more expensive cause that's when students start to move in). But if you move further up say north county it's cheaper.

Acually Nat, we prefer not having people in our state that spit on other people. It's just discourteous.

550 is a bit cheap for Irvine. I would be suspicious. It could be under a freeway, full of radon, haunted... You never know...

Where you at Aka? UCSD?

500 for a studio is a bit too cheap in irvine... you should definitely take a look to make sure.

Wow Nat...congradulations smile.gif

Irvine - Well it is the safest city in Cali so the celica should be fine

but i dont know about the 500 bucks. I work here in irvine, let me know the addy and ill let you know what part of irvine it might be in. Unfortunately Irvine does have its ghetto side too.

It's going to be expensive no matter where you are. If you want to spend less money, you are looking at moving inland. The farther you are from the ocean the less you will pay.

Also, Ventura County is nice too and you might find so good deals.

My co-worker who moved here from Wisconson a few months ago lives in HB for 1250/month with his roomate. It has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, kitchen and most importantly 2 car ports. Doesn't look that bad...some might say it looks like a beat up motel but nothing a little IKEA wont fix. He's just cheap.

Anyways... moving out here like many will tell you is going to be very expensive, especially if you want to live in a "safe" area.

Finding a roomate would probably be the best thing to do.

Im sure ill make it. I dont plan on staying longer than a year anyways cuz my mom is pretty sick.

Parents definetly will be helping out im sure so i should do fine.

and from people i talk to in torrance and what not..it sounds like the same cost of living as it is here in Washington

735 for a one bedroom here in WA and thats what it seems to run around the areas im looking at.

i go to school in the inland empire (riverside) and let me say...well you get what you pay for. It's a big area without the frills or luxuries of a big city, like one giant suburb. A hot suburb. The beauty of it is the home market is still low (although everyone and their moms are moving out to the IE cause its cheaper, get in before the bubble bursts) and its pretty close to a lot of nice areas (<1 hr to beach, 1+ hr to LA, 1.5 hr San Diego, <1 hr Palm Springs, 4+ hr Las Vegas). Theyre still building a lot of new tract/community homes in the area. Good luck.

Oh and if you plan on moving out here anytime soon, theyre doing this massive freeway renovation, and traffic is a mother.

The valley (northern LA county, very hot) is another place...its where everyone moved to last decade to escape the city(the old Inland Empire) so I dont know if its a feasible option although it is nice. I have friends who live there and they live in nice areas.

The south bay (where i live, carson) is nice too, close to beaches etc. My house is about 15 miles from the beach, close to a freeway/industrial areas/oil refineries and its worth about half a mil now. Its a 4 bedroom 2 bath 2 story corner house.

So yeah, if youre really movin out here, good luck, and can i get a ride in your car? biggrin.gif

Torrance is a very nice area, although the westside (beach->inland) is a lot nicer than the eastside (old town/downtown). From what I know though there doesn't seem to be a lot of apartments around, maybe a few upscale condos here and there. The only apartments i ever see in torrance are on busy streets and look kinda ghetto. If you find an apartment at that price in a nice neighborhood over here, go for it. Do you know what your total price range will look like?

To Live and Die in LA
when everyday we try a fatten' our pockets
Us ni**as' hustle for the cash so it's hard to knock it
Everybody got their own thang currency chasin'
World wide thru the hard times worrying faces
Shed tears as we bury ni**as' close to heart
What was a friend now a ghost in the dark
Cold hearted--my ni**a got smoked by a fiend
Trying to floss on em'
blind to a broken man's dream

A hard lesson--court cases keep me guessin'
plea bargain ain't an option now-so I'm stessin'
Cost me more to be free than a life in the Penn
making money off of cuss words--writing again
Learn how to think ahead--so I fight with my pen
late night down Sunset like in a scene
What's the worst they could do to a ni**a
got me lost in hell--To Live and Die in LA
on bail--my angels sing...

Chorus:

To live and Die in La, it's the place to be
you've got to be there to know it
where everybody wanna see

It's the city of angels and constant danger
South Central LA--can't get no stranger
full of drama like a soap opera
on the curb
watching the ghetto bird hellicopters
I observe--so many ni**as'
getting 3 strikes--tossed in jail
so where's the Penn--right across from hell
I can't cry--cause it's on now
I'm just a ni**a on his own now
living life thug style--so I can't smile
writing to my peoples
when they ask for pictures
thinking Cali's just mine and bi**hes
[haha]
better learn about the dress code
B's and C's--all them other ni**as' copycats
these is G's
I love Cali like I love woman
cause every ni**a in LA
gotta little bit of thug in em'

We might fight with each other
but I promise you this
we will burn this s**t down--get us pissed
To Live and Die in LA

Chorus:

To Live and Die in LA, it's the place to be
[(Tupac) Let my angel sing]
you've got to be there to know it
where everybody wanna see

What would be LA with out Mexicans
Black love--Brown pride
in the set's again--Pete Wilson
trying to see us all broke amongst some old s**t
out for everything they owe
remember K day
weekends--Crenshaw--MLK
automatics rang free cause
ni**as' lost their way
gang signs being shown
ni**a love your hood
but recognize when it's all good
where the weed at--ni**as getting shermed out
Snoop Dogg and his homie's burned out
M-O-B
Big Suge in the lo lo
bounce and turn
Dogg Pound in the Lex
with an ounce to burn
got them watts ni**as with me O-F-T-B
they got some hash
took a stash
left the rest for me
Neckbone--Dreray--Ron too
Big Rock got knocked
but this one's for you
I hit the studio and drop a jewel
hopin it pay
getting high--watching time fly
To Live and Die in LA

Copying Tupac lyrics on a web forum about cars is grounds for immediate deportation. You have your choice of North Dakota or Texas.

Honestly, if you get this Bartending down, or kinda down, you'll make bank here. You have great "assests" that qualify you for making great tips. My cousin didnt have "assests" like you, but being a girl does help out SOOOOOO much more, and now i think her "assests" are as big as yours. I think i heard she would come back with $400 ON TIPS ALONE on a slow night, like mondays.

But like i told you before, ill help you out as much as possible, and Torrance is NO WHERE near expensive as West LA area where i wanna move to. But keep on doing your HW and ill help out the best i can.

David

p.s By then my car should be complete and ill let you ride along biggrin.gif

Haha.... True but I need more room to "stretch" :-) and "move around"

OR we can buy a CALI-KING and there is plenty of room, I think a NY-KING is even bigger ;-)

So that's what they're calling it these days. How often do you "drive" while she "sleeps with you?"

Edit: P.S. I'm so glad she won't see this til tonight, when I'll be out of computer contact until Monday night when I get up to Porlegon.
