I talked to XAT racing yesterday about the stage 1 and 2 swap that we talked about here the other day...its a good price and they seem like pretty decent guys! i asked some questions got good answers but forgot one major thing...i forgot to mention I have an automatic. the guy said that i might as well get a GT that is manual so that the swap would go easier (and cheaper) im glad i talked to the guy at XAT because the shop here in charlotte seems like they have the know how, but i dont think they really know what theyre gettin into....oh well...im thinking that maybe i should just give up the whole dreamer thing of the 3s and get a honda or something like every other schmuck in charlotte...GUYS PLEASE TALK ME OUTTA THIS im in one of those moods again....

To any Honda lover or not hater  Please dont hold any of the following words/sentences against me! Are you stupid. No no and again NO!!!!!! Dont get a Honda. Common people drive a honda. Guys with no taste for class and style drive a honda. If you gonna go trough with it i will take a plane to Charlotte and Whoop your a**. Theres nothing wron with hondas, there very nice cars, and can look awsome. Butt theres just a ton of people that have them, which makes it not as cool, also you'll have to do a lot more to out do the next kid.
The thing i like about the celi, is the fact its rare, and looks nice and handles great. Yes a engine swap is a pain, but well worth it, only if you really love your car. I am not in love with it that much to deal with a swap. but enough to hang on to it for a bit. |

never never give up! Come on now! Imagine what would have happend if some of our "senior" members gave up every time they ran into a problem? I'm sure that if you ask some of them they will tell you that it's worth it to deal with the problems and you get an amazing result.

get a crx gut it. drop a b18 hi reving motor. the price of the car with a swap will come out to the same as a stock celica GT with 90K miles on it.

My opinions about Honda's are simple, they're great cars, but their just too many of them around... gets boring to look at after a while...
Picture a scenario.... Red Honda passes by, bodykit, rims, etc, etc... Your standing outside somewhere what do you say... "Nice rims..." Not damn nice Honda etc... cuz they're so common... Now a 6th gen celica comes by, bodykit, rims, etc., etc. What does the common person say... "Damn, thats hot what was that...." Kinda understand... HONDA's are nice but PLAYED out. |

[right][snapback]329444[/snapback][/right] I was in your exact shoes my friend, and sadly i sold the ceilca and bout a dsm...the only thing i miss about my celi is that it never broke on me, but since your lookin at a honda, realiablity wont be an issue...so from one tuner to another, sell the celica and get something tunable....someone said a crx, and that might be the best way to go...you could get a shell for like 500-1k bucks(must be and si, four wheel disc brakes, nice seats..etc) then drop any b series in....or you could do what this kid did..get an ls or gs teggy motor, built the **** outa it..dartin sleves, pistons, cams..etc, then turbo. thanks guys! you all are awesome!! hey jay! (gt) i see u mang!! i really dont want to sell it for a honda...i dont know why i said somethign crazy like that....if it costs me extra then so be it! i'd rather be paying for a loan of 6 or 7 thousand than pay for a new car payment of 20000k or like 280 a month! i will continue on in the quest for a 3s swap...even if im dreaming....for now...

i dont really understand what you would gain by getting a honda. you trade a slow car, that needs a swap or a turbo to be fast (the celica) for another slow car that needs a swap or a turbo to be fast (the honda).
if anything trade the car for something that came turbo from the factory, like and mr2, alltrac, wrx, etc... -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

I went the honda route and here I am back with another celica!! The hondas are not nearly as refined as the celicas. Sure if you are looking for a cheep fast car get a honda. But if you are looking for a chalenge that is a much nicer car then the celica is where its at.

you guys are right...i was just so discouraged about teh price...not being able to get a 7k loan for the swap and being stuck with a slow st until then....but maybe i'll be able to get it by the winter....what would some of you guys do?

yeah man for a little bit cheaper you could always drop a 4agze in your car i know a few guys have done it. I know XAT does the swap for a corrola but iam not sure if there aware it will fit into the celi i would ask them about that.

If you want want a big project, I'll tell you what to do. Get a 88-91 CRX and screw the "b" series, drop in an H22A. It'll be one hell of a job, but I'll tell you, you trip it out, and that thing'll blow the $hit out out of anything else. WRX, NSX, Viper, you name it. No joke. I'd so be doing it if I had the time and money......
