It's about $500 to do this isn't it? If you've already got a header, intake, exhaust, maybe ignition, and possibly ported and polished head, then yeah it might be worth it. There are a few things to do first though. I should have checked your profile to see what you have done before I typed this. But to anyone out there wanting to do this to a stock engine, better do some other things first. New cams won't even work right unless you have free flowing exhaust and intake. And unless it's really mild, you'll probably have to get bigger injectors and upgrade ignition.
EDIT: I looked at your profile. You might be ready for this in my opinion, especially if you've got the cash for it. I'd like to see an all-motor Celica build here. Maybe that's a bit ambitious. well i'm building a 7afte with 4agze psiton...port and polishing the head with everything new from valve, regriding 7afe cam shaft.. etc.......... with a custom 7afe itb adaptor to fit the 20v itb with upgrade fuel injetor and going on the itb is a 20valve turbo intake manifold and here is the a pic of the same 20v turbo intake manifold that i bought
http://www.altarf.net/gallery/friendphoto/pic_1 and some other stuff that is going on the engine.. This post has been edited by st_celica_killer: Sep 29, 2005 - 10:01 PM |

are you smoking pot? To use a 7afe head on a built engine is like putting a restrictor plate on a nascar... it kills power. The 4ag head will give you better gains and it will be easier to get a ITB adapter. Plus, you can get any cams you want.

if you don't have a manifold, then the head swap won't be a problem.

your going to have high compression with those 4agze pistons with the 7afe head
IMAO a stock 4ag heads flows as good or better than a stage 3 P&P job on a 7afe head but if your set on keeping the 7afe and just turboing it I have a few things you might want ASP underdrive pulley stock cams and gear catch bottle (for pcv) valve cover with new seal intercooler piping 2.5" let me know This post has been edited by nik: Sep 30, 2005 - 10:19 AM -------------------- yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

Don't think cams are bolt-on power... they require significant tuning... ignition, fuel, and especially timing. A MAJOR tuning drawback of the FE slave gear design is cam tuning...

Is it because you can't move each seperately? I'm not real deap into the tuning world yet, I just haven't had much of option yet. It just seem like they're be too many times you'd nead to move them seperately. If you agust the timing on intake to advance it, it seems like exhaust would follow. I just want to know the reason it's so bad. If you don't reply, I'll see if I can't find the answer somewere on the net. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

Depending on the cam profile... sometimes tuning for the best power, best torque, or whatever will make better results when one cam is retarded and the other advanced. This depends on the cam profile and other tuning... but it is a great limiting factor in cam tuning. Again I'll repeat... camshafts aren't bolt-on power. If you don't tune them... they can just make the engine run bad. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
