Meeting people thru the net, Whos done it? Options

So who here has met people thru the net and for what purpose? Car meets? relationship? Howd the meetings go? What do you think of trying to find a boyfriend/girlfriend from the net?


I personally dont go to school and I work in an office where everyone is over 28 so I think using the net to meet people is a great idea. Im always careful and let someone know where im going and with who. I have yet to meet a real creep! THANK GOD! I have dated a couple of people that i met from the net but have yet to find true love from the net. I havent even found it from anyone ive met in real life first though.

Anyone have any real bad experiences?

i personally wouldnt ever do it for a relationship. i guess i can see where your coming from not being in school and all, but i still think its best to meet people in real life. even if i were you, i would still try to put myself in situations to meet people my own age instead of resorting to the net. i wouldnt mind meeting people for a car meet or something along those lines, but not for a relationship. for some reason, i think itd be awkward to meet some girl over the net, maybe thats just because i havnt done it. and i think everyone knows how pictures can be very very flattering to some people. itd suck to show up and shes not what you expected.

Ive met over like 50 people from the net! its fun! I mean of course its better to meet people in real life. But i think the net you open yourself up to meet so many more people. I dont go into these meetings for a relationship. I just go into it for friends.

I never really looked around on then net for a "girlfriend" or anything. Im thinking it wouldnt be a bad Idea. I cant finda girl for the life of me. Im also pretty shy, and most girls wont come just talk to me, cause im told im too good looking or hot or some BS.

My manager has met a few girls on the net, that he has dated. I mean he's a big loser/nerd.. but it works for him. He does umm E-harmoney or somthing.. but Id say thats more for like older people.. hes 29.

i met ashland from the internet... kinda i guess it was thru msn and my friend added me into the conversation and she was in there... that was 7 months ago now im a happy lil person with a girlfriend of 6 months. i think i just struck it lucky tho.

I met one of my best friends over the net 3 years ago, and my best friend met his current girl friend over the net. Here in toronto we have a website called www.meetmeinto.com, you set up a profile, go on forums, chats, pm people. Thats how I met Britney, and thats how my buddy spencer met emma.

EDIT: Just curious, why do you need to turn to internet dating though?? IMO ur f*ckin hot Nat.

get off of online dating, you will thank yourself later. who cares about high school, its not like your 40 and married yet (which isnt a bad thing ), get out there and have some fun! you make it sound as though the time to have fun is past. and if you want a job to meet girls, i met my girlfriend when i was serving at a restaurant. restaurants are nice because i was outnumbered like 10 to one with girls around 20 years old . im sorry i just hate online dating sites, all they do is help people stay in their little comfort zones so they wont get hurt.

But for dating purposes, I'd never turn to the net to help me... I dunno, I guess Im old-fasioned... I like meeting people in real life, not through cyberspace... I think its a lot safer too to meet people in real life too, cuz you never know what you could get yourself into by meeing someone from the net... It just kinda scares me to think... cuz there are some really f**cked up people out there, and without realizing it, you could get yourself into a buncha trouble... But thats just if your not careful... Just watch your back and I think you'd be fine...

true, but it would be easier to fake yourself online rather than in person. and i know you can get hurt by people online if you like them just like you can in person. what i meant was more along the lines that its more personal to get rejected in person i believe than online. a lot of people, mostly guys since were usually the ones putting our ass on the line , dont know how to handle rejection and thats the main thing holding them back.

it's better to chat to someone on msn before you meet them that way they get to know you and you get to know them without being face to face and the person could be a complete arsehole I am getting to know a girl now on msn she seems nice but she lives far away thats the only bad thing. I like to meet new people so I get to know them first before I meet them in person.

its not about comfort zones and I'm not gana give up my great job that has becomre my carrier for a low pay starter job on the chance that I might meet someone there, when I worked at fred meyer I worked with a few girls my age, but the one I actualy was kinda into was more into gay guys then straght guys (dont ask why)

The main problem I have is that my job is at night, So on my nights off (if I dont get called in to work) I got nothing to do really, most places are closed, and no one is awake to hang out with unless I set up something special with friends.

I've met about a dozen ladies online. Got some ugly ones that lied and then again got some real hotties too. I've had a ball with it. Sometimes they're better than a chic at a club and sometimes not. It depends on what web site your associated with as to what type of person you'll usually get. Like if u went to adultfriendfinder and then eharmony. opposite ends of the spectrum. Get AIM. Best place to me to meet ppl would probably not be online but on a college campus. jus my 2c
