OK lets just hear some ideas that you guys have out there.

My ideas....
Location: Middle of the country
Date: Next summer
number of days: at least two

If this were to ever happen, we would need 100% confirmation from everyone that would come. Meaning pay to play, a required deposit. Once you show up the
deposit is returned to you.

lets here some location ideas

I dont want to read about how this will not happen, I want to read about how it could happen. Check you negativity at the door. wink.gif

Thanks,
DEF

I think this is too ambitious. Perhaps start with an east coast meet in NC or something.

a US Celica meet would be good. The center of the US is in about Kansas or so. If most members are either east coast or west coast, then we are all looking at a 1-2 days of driving each way.

we need a show of hands, who would do it ?

I would do it. I think you should aim more toward the ohio / kentucky / tennesee area though. You wont have too many west coasters cross the rockies even if you have it in Kansas. My vote is the Dragon in Tennessee and do it in June.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Heres my problem - very weary about driving so far in a car with so many parts which "dont belong."

I also think that the folks from alltrac.net, celicatech.com, newcelica.org and other Celica owners should be invited to increase turnout.

I'm interested! I've always been interested in something like this.

100% here.

I remember in the old celica.net days.. there was an Orlando meet (which I did not attend).. and they rented a house for the weekend. What about something like that? (Maybe just for the 6gc people if there is a huge huge huge turnout)?

I'm in 100%. My car loves long trips.

Lets see what some of the west coasters say. If we cant get any members to come from the west, I'll agree with Jay.

I'd love to attend a huge toyota meet.

amecia is foking HUGE. i think a better idea would be to do an all east coast and a 2nd all west coast meet. if we get the mr2, supra, 7th gen , etc...guys into it, it would still be an amazingly large meet.

Myrtle Beach.

the probe forum im on has a meet in November every year. been doing it for 8 years now. all probes. we get people from cali flyin in for it and driving over for it.
its a great time. there is a show also. trophys, food, fun and prizes.

We even have a state meet/show called Hocking Hills(HH2k5). get people from califlyin in also.

just a suggestion. even though it isn't center of the country.

Jeff, you know I would do it man. Actually a security deposit of sorts is a good way to assure that people will show up and have a good turnout. I like the idea, however its all in the interest and execution/organization of it all IMO.

If my car is running well, and I can get off other commitments, I'd consider it. Depends on location, a 1-2day drive wouldnt be cheap or fun, unless we meet and all ride together.

If we get a strong west coast interest, I like to see it almost dead center of the country.

If not, I would agree to a massive east coast meet.
Tail of the dragon, or some other ideas you guys may have.

Tennessee would be Ideal IMO

Let me know, I can get us a super good deal.

sure kansas is centered, but i think it would be so much more fun in colorado. i mean, this is a nice place to drive for a summer vacation even without a celica meet. plenty of activities to do here. should try to make it more than just a car meet. one of the best water parks in denver, white water rafting, i dont know im just throwing ideas out. a weekend event would be cool. again im biased, but no matter where it is, i really hope this goes down, i will be there.

sorry but i think that this is a bit unrealistic. i can see west/east/central meets, but for most people i think it would be very hard to leave home/work and drive several days strait to look at cars. I don't want to discourage others who would be able to do it though, but i wont be able to be there...

DEF, check this out:

When I used to own an S-10, we did something similar with a national meet. It was held in Kansas City, and we organized a BBQ, and basically camped out and cruised and things all weekend. It was a lot of fun, and we had probably 60 vehicles there the first year. My buddy organized camping grounds, food, and such. There is a place here that is cool with having that sort of event camp out for the weekend on the grounds.

We had trophies, beer, tons of food, and a lot of fun. Lots of pictures taken, and it turned into an annual even after that year. Now, IF YOU WISH, I can look into it (prices for the camping ground, etc.), but it will be tough. We need an approximate number of people in about two months TOPS so that I could make reservations for the camping ground.

People will drive. It could be a driving meet for a lot of people, driving from different parts of the country down to KC.

I’m not being selfish here being from Kansas City myself, but it is in the center of the United States. BTW, Topeka is a craphole. Too many potholes and not a lot to do. But, we could drive there one night because they have the kickest-ass drag strip (Topeka is where NHRA was born). We could drag one night, and it’s cheap.

Just some things to ponder, everyone let me know what you guys think.

Sorry guys I wouldnt make it out till unless it was late next summer. Theres no way my lil beast would make it that far. I went with the Supras to Supras Invade Las Vegas and it sucked when one broke down in the middle of the desert! Luckily we were in a caravan so someone stayed back with him.

200,000 miles on my car and thats 115,000 put on in the last 3 years. The cars been thru a lot! Were getting a 5sfe with way less miles and rebuilding but it wont be in till september! maybe id fly out or go with Coomer or Amy!

Aww i feel special that i live so close to coomer! :-)

itd be worth it if it was to colorado wink.gif it would be fun to meet up in rocky mountain national park or even a ski resort. steamboat springs has a mustang meet every year i say we go there at the same time smile.gif fun as hell here, im starting to sound like a colorado tour guide. by the way, the private dock i mentioned could accomodate 50 people easily but thats about the limit for parking, so i dont know exactly how many you think are actually going to show. but i could get a few boats and jet skis. and im with you streetz, nothing beats driving for hours!

kansas is there for the best option

obviously youve never been here in the summer smile.gif its really hot but the humidy stays low. i know its not exactly in the middle, i just thought itd be more fun than kansas especially since i could get us all a weekend on the lake, but whatever, ill still make it wherever it is.

ive been observing the locations of people...ive noticed that most people on this site are on the east coast...why not just meet somewhere central on the east coast like.....NORTH CAROLINA? biggrin.gif or myrtle beach! or tennesee im down for that...but im thinking kansas and colorado (which i consider west) is pretty far for the east coasters (new yorkers and dirty jersians and the buckeye people) just makes sense to have a regional meet instead of one big ol meet far away...like plyr said...100 people would say they would go and 20 cars show up.

i remember when we went to plyrs this spring like 50 peeps said they would go...only 6 showed up...

I'm from Jersey, I dont mind the drive to Kansas. If it means meeting the west coasters one time, I'm in. I'm sure others in my area would follow me down there.

I can't commit to anything now. I would love to go, especially since my car will be done by then, but I am taking 14 or 15 credits of computer science this summer and I'm not sure when the classes will be. I need to go talk to the CS department chair and see if he can help me out.

I would do it.  I think you should aim more toward the ohio / kentucky / tennesee area though.  You wont have too many west coasters cross the rockies even if you have it in Kansas.  My vote is the Dragon in Tennessee and do it in June.

oh man, the dragons tale would be insane to go to...what is like 4 miles with over 100 turns or somethin to that nature....I am soo down for doing this, but idk how you guys would feel about a turboed eclipse showing up...i too would also love to shake the coom doggs hand...i also like jens idea bout a house somewhere..highly doubt that will happen, but that be sweet as h e double hockey sticks

Hey guys!! Wherever you decide to meet, I'm all for it. I know I never post on here, but yea..there's like 2 celicas in my area and I'm dying to get to see more!! Myrtle beach, NC, or TN all sound like good places to travel to. Especially since MB will be like a 2 hour drive for me. hehehe

The tail of the dragon or whatever its called in Tennessee would be awesome! My dad's (yes hes an old man who likes cars) in the Carolina's Miata Club and they go there every year and have a blast. Lets put the handling of the 6gc to the test smile.gif.

Also I think that having a seperate East Coast and West Coast meet would be a lot easier but not as cool.

PS- I dont currently own a 6gc cause I sold it, but I would have another by next summer.

Well then KC. Cause idk about Tennesee whats all there that would be fun? And plust KC is actually in the middle so we can get people from both sides Tennesee Is way farther on one side then the other. Cmon people lets just do this and get a lot of people to go. Everyone needs to pay a little money charge and sho up/. to get it back if not then thats there loss

I think it would be awesome to see this really take form. I'm sure that all us Northeast folks would all ride out together in a huge convoy. Shin....now that you mention it, next year I'm eligible for a one week paid vacation so I'll take advantage of that too if this goes down for sure.

Ok. so anyways back onto this forums subject. What is everyone deciding on? KC or Tennesse? Because I'd love to meet all of you celi enthusiests. and wish we could get this all streighten'd out and have a good ol time. If we have it in KC we can have it anywhere there. Like topeka. But lets do this instead of just say we are gonna. We need 100% from everyone. So lets get everyone that is close or far, thats wanting to go (for sure) and get it going.

Ok seriously, this isnt worth arguing about. Lets stay on topic instead of argue yeah eh?

If this meet occurs, I'm assuming we'll be traveling in packs. Northeasterners, Southeasterners, midwesterners, etc. If Nick comes I'm sure me Nick & Tina would travel down and meet up with Corey, Jeff, maybe Pieter who are all in NJ and then along the way meet up with others, we'd have some kick-ass convoy going.

If this happens its going to be awesome! YES! a big ass pack of 6gcs.

I'm excited to see if this will happen. We just need to figure out Tenn or KC.

We need some more imput from the Westcoast guys.

If we can't get this going, we can always have a huge East Coast meet, which i think was said in one of the other topics.

let make this meet next year spring~!!!!! weather is fine, not too hot, cool enough, everyone gather their back packs, clean their celi and get going woot. we could make this a EC, WC meet before the US meet. EC and WC 6gcers have a meet on the same day, everyone in EC meet in 1 location, then travel to the US meet location the next day, vice versa for the WC members. so everyone will be able to have a meet near them and then roll together to the US meet biggrin.gif

So lets make a poll seeing how many people would actually go to a meet if we just said its at KC. And see how many people we could get. I mean ya i know we have a while till June. But still we need to get every single little thing organized before we start this.

Hi people... first time poster, long time browser.

I registered because of this thread.

Waaaaay back in the days of c.net, I did some research on this subject (I'm a geographer), and I actually mapped out the distribution of some 300 celica owners to figure out where the best area to have a national meet would be. The results I got (they weren't final, but they were good), was that the best place to have a national meet would be anywhere in Ohio, because the data showed the largest cluster of owners in and around that area of the U.S. Of course that included all generation celicas. The distribution of 6th gens could be different.

Anyways, that would be the location that would maximize turnout. Everyone east of the rockies would probably come (even Canada celicas), and most owners would have less than a 1000 mile trip (roughly a day of driving). There wasn't a large enough west-coast distribution to warrant moving the meet further west. Like I said, the results could have been better with more data.

But the celica center of America IS Ohio... for now.

Do what you will with my research. Just trying to help.

That's pretty interesting. smile.gif

Interesting, but if it was based on a poll of people different from the ones that are attending, its not very relevant. Also, even if the biggest cluster of people is in the Ohio area, the analysis doesn't take into account where other people are that want to come. For example, assume there are 50 celica owners in Ohio and none want to go to the meet. Assume further that 20 celica members want to go to the meet: 10 are from Kentucky and 10 are from Georgia. The best place for the meet would be Tennessee, not Ohio. Therefore, the meet should be in Tennessee.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Jgreening has a very good point. And see if we could get more people from both sides to go then it would be best to be in Kansas. Because both sides would be an equal drive to everyone. But i'm still hopin we can get more people then this. and just all meet up in Kansas..

Well, I really like the 2nd one. It sleeps like 20.. and if we get 20 people interested.. that's only $22/each.

It has a pool, a hot tub! And it's secluded so we can be loud without neighbors bitching. smile.gif

If it's during spring or summer the pool would be fun. biggrin.gif

Should I dare start a new thread to help coordinate this meet?

Yup I think I will.
