 knock in rear, struts?? |

I have a 95 st hatch that i purchased this past summer. The one thing that has bothered me is a somewhat loud thump or knock coming from the rear compartment over a bumpy road. My thinking is the struts. But the previous owner had new ones put in a few years ago. They are KYB's and still look somewhat new, and the car still handles fine. I was wondering if there is some way to figure out if the struts are bad other than buying new ones and seeing if the problem is solved.

LOL, I have that problem too and mines a 95 ST hatch with KYB all around. I think its coming from the spare tire. Make sure that it is secure. The changing tools for the spare, make sure that they are secure and if you can wrap a piece of cloth around them.
The last thing that I can think about is our HB Trunk. It seems that this could be the problem as well with the loud thump and knock. cause when you go over a bumpy road the trunk will hit against the frame of the car or try to move and so thus the knock. |

Two rubber sway bar bushings...4$ each at advanced auto.
