Hi
Could someone give me a stright answer to this question i bought my car a year ago under a GT but my mate who works for Toyota says its not got the GT engine in it. I said to my mate it says 2.0L but he says its a carollo engine. Is he taking the p*ss. The info write in the chassis is: ST202 3S-FE 2.0 16V In the book it says GT 2.0 is 173bhp. -------------------- |

take a pic of the engine bay and post it here if you want an exact anser, but it soulds like its just a 3sfe, which I think is basicly the head off a 3sge on the block of a 5sfe. and 173bhp is about right for that.
Carollo, as in a John Carollo engine? This post has been edited by creis: Dec 3, 2005 - 8:06 AM -------------------- ![]() |

3sfe is the F head on a S block i think its the same head as the 5SFE and the block of The 3sge. just like it said 2.0l instead of 2.2l

something is wrong here!?
if it is a uk or jdm celica as i suppose, it should have the 2.0 litre 3s-ge engine with around 170hp. the 3s-fe is the 2.0 litre engine from camry, carina... and many others... but it was never used in a celica (correct me if i'm wrong)! has less hp than the 3s-ge, i think around 130! Aside from the headers, does your engine look something like this?

So much incorrect information in this thread it's not even funny.
It's all right here: http://www.6gc.net/index.php?action=information&itu=3 It is not "basicly" a G head on a 5S Block Yes, 3SFEs were used in Celicas. -------------------- ![]() Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |

Wether or not the 5SFE and 3SFE head are exactly the same and the 3SFE and 3SGE blocks are the same I couldn't tell you, I've never had them side by side. For example, there's a difference in the 7A and the 4A heads, and a big difference between the 4AFE and 4AGE bottom ends, a BIG difference. The head doesn't have anything to do with the .2L displacement difference.

It's not a GT if it has a 3S-FE. It's a JDM SS-I.

It is a import i think from Japan. Ill put a pick of the engine in a min. http://www.badongo.com/vid.php?file=celica...6_celica.wmv&s= above is a link i tried to go as quick as poss the first one is 0-60 at the begining i had to turn to car as i was going left. And the other scene was 0-50 i ran out of road but that looks pretty quick. Also i was holdin the camcorda and ground was wet. Maybe it could help. ST202s were all either SS-I, SS-II, or SS-III
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought... The SS-II came with the 3rd gen 3SGE and had an option for the 4th gen 3S-GE a.k.a. Beams. Every SS-III got a Beams 3S-GE. That's been my understanding but I haven't really been able to confirm that. If all that is correct it'd be safe to assume you have a SS-I P.S. Does anyone now the production dates of the SS-I, SS-II and SS-III? This post has been edited by WannabeGT4: Dec 6, 2005 - 4:34 PM -------------------- ![]() Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |

LOL, that's faster than the turbo ST that Doggy posted a short time ago. All you have is an intake too. I didn't think those 3sfe's were much to speak of. I could be wrong about that being faster, but it's at least as fast. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

AWS stands for all wheel steering. A very neat little option that I wish I had. It's hasn't ever been popular in the states. They had it on some cars in the 90s, but not as many now. SS stands for Super Strut, I think. It's the way your suspension is different and better than other Celica's. For the VTEC thing, you don't have it with the 3sfe. You'll need a 3sge for that. Preferably Beams. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

Your engine is a 3SFE, because thats definately not the way the 3SGE of any generation looks. Looks like a 5SFE minus the different heat shield and logo on the intake manifold. So probably an SS-I.

SS1 do not have superstrut.
Conclusion: Yes your engine is a 3sfe Your car is a SS1 You have a non superstrut suspension You have around 140bhp You do not have AWS Do not compare your models to the one in the US You should compare it to the SS2 or SS3. Yours is a ss1 which is the slowest among them. SS2 has superstrut as an option while ss3s all came with them Goto the CelicaUK forums where you will find topics on your car |

It is SS because that is how the japs decided to name it. ss1 , ss2, ss3 . Dont compare it to the US versions.
ss1 being the economy model with the 3s-fe engine. To make it faster? Nos, turbo or engine swap . the 3sge (180bhp) found on ss2 and ss3 or the 3sgte found in the st205. There is also the beams engine which came in some ss3 and in mr2s. There is not much , if any gains to be made on this engine with addon mods like pod filter , exhaust etc. it is still going to be slow. |

LOL that's the first picture I found for the equation of dispalcement. I forgot I could use ^ for exponents and I didn't know how to do superscript so I just used that pic from wikipedia. I think the equation was written that way so that all someone has to do is plug in the numbers and type it in their calculator. Otherwise people might not figure out that you have to divide bore/diameter first before you start the rest of the equation.
