with out my celi for going on 2 weeks now ... in this time i have had alot of extra time to think, alot.... an after having at talk with the wonder mother of mine... she has convinced me to switch over to the dark side... yes drop the T for an H .... in the form of the civic si ... now this isn't offical yet... i haven't commetted to this 100 percent yet... but she did make some really good points to me...

here are the ways i could go ..

1 stay with the celi .. swap in a 3sge/bodywork repaint/redo interior

2. Give mom the GT / Get a Civic Si and pay that off for the next 4 years...

i should have my mind 100 percent one way or the other with in the next few months ..

I should slap you for thinking..

No, if thats what you want to do then do it, but I am pretty sure everyone here will tell you stick with the Celica.

mac your celica needs some help before you can get to a 3sgte swap and such...i'd say give mom the GT (fixed) and then get a civic SI and be happy with it...no tinkering cause duct tape and zip ties have a tendancy to fail sooner or later wink.gif

bahahah of course she wants you to choose option number 2... she doesn't get a car with option 1! But in all seriousness, I would probably go with an s2k over a civic. A nice 2000+ can be had for 20k and less! Plus, unless you plan on startin a family real soon, why would you need a sedan?

Well, the new Si has like 200 HP, right? Go for it. Sounds like you will still have the Celica in the family anyway, and we can only semi-hate you laugh.gif

lol thats wrong to say but really if the celica is giving you problems then just get a Civic. As long its the new civic and not that stupid hatchback thing. If you have the money to do the swap then I say keep it. The body work can always come later.

Because if you dont we will all come to your house and torch you and it in a 6gc inspired cult/religious ceremony..

Keep the Celi, because they are hotter than any civic, new or old. You have been through a lot with that Celica, don't give up on her now. Fix her up the way she should be and forget about the Civic. If you mom really wants to help, see if she will help you out with replacing some of the problem areas on the Celica at the moment. I could never give up on such a beautiful car.

Bottom line: Keep it, or we'll burn your house down.

Get a civic. If you will feel like it you can always come back and buy a celica later.
But get some fire extinguishers handy to protect your house laugh.gif

Yeah RC king!! I wanna see that...N/a motor vs 3sgte..Is there any doubt on who'd win that? The dark side (honda) sucks, they make lawnmowers and little vespa like things. Toyota pwns all. Even tho id really hate to see a celica owner go the way of a Honda, if thats what u have to do, then thats what u have to do.

In all seriousness.....I would go with the new Civic Si.

I don't think you could go wrong with it at all. It won the Motor Trend car of the year for 2006, and they can't say enough about how sweet and balanced of a car it is. Plus the variant of the K20 thats under the hood of that thing will take Mac's abuse better than 'ye olde 5SFE'. wink.gif

The new Si is definately affordable, its got one of the best N/A motors you can buy, LSD, performance and reliability stock, looks great, etc. Its definately a good car for you Mac. I just couldn't imagine driving a highly modded Celica through Jersey City....it was hard enough taking my car into NYC through JC when it was stock, now that I'm getting mods done I don't think I would ever bring it back on those roads. I'd rather drive a stock vehicle instead.

You guys are hilarious. What makes you think that a stock Si would be an even match at all against a modified 3SGTE swap? You're just looking to flex your Toyota muscle and make the Si look inferior. wink.gif laugh.gif

Don't get me wrong, I love Toyota, and especially the Celica, but in all honesty I think Honda's got some of the best cars ever made. Go with the Si Civic. Think about how many years of happiness it will bring. Whereas the Celica will have to go at some point, the civic, being 10 years newer will last you twice as long. Anyway...just my 2 cents. wink.gif

your celica has well over 200,000 miles on it. after that many miles, you really have to keep up with the maintenece on every part of the car, not just the motor. so its going to be a money pit.

i dont look at civics as the dark side.... thats what domestics are for. the new si really is a nice car. how much do they go for, anyway ?
