I ask this because this is my first time moving out on my own and the only way for me to park is outside. *sigh* outside... I'm kinda scared about it having to be outside, very paranoid about the taillight so i reverse park my car. But then im also scared about my front bumper. You never know what would happen. So im thinkin about gettin a car cover and just cover it whenever im not driving. This is how much i got love ME car. So do you guys have any advice, tips, or info? its so bothersome.... THANKS

Are you moving into a house or apt? If you move into an apt building then....that could be very scary! Since everyone has to park so close to eachother.

But if its a house & your parking in a driveway (like me) then you should be just fine

mine's out in the street until I get a new apartment (I'm between houses and jobs and stickin it with the parents while job hunting). Only place is the street, and we have our fair share of vandalisms along here. Plus when I was in high school someone stole gas out of one of my cars lol.

As far as parking at an apartment complex I wouldn't worry too much about stuff being stolen unless you're in a really crappy part of town. I've had mine out in apartment lots for quite a while and haven't had a problem. If you're worried about door dings then just park a little further out from the building if you can. My next place will either be an apartment with a garage or a townhome so the car isn't outside.

Get a car cover. They're not that expensive, and totally worth it. It'll be white, so it's more likely people will see it, plus they'll figure it's a nice car and really not want to hit it. Also, very few theives or valdals are bold enough to actually take off the car cover. I recently found out that we've got a dodge viper on the our street, and I never knew it just cause he's always got a cover on it.

I park my car outside, however I don't live anywhere where vandalism or theft is a problem. Also, its right outside my bedroom window and if somebody were to come up to it at night theres motion sensor floodlights in my driveway.

Not too bad to have it outside really....when it snows or weather is bad, I put a car cover on it for protection and easy cleanup of snow and ice. Although I still would love a garage to work in and keep the car protected year round.

Mine lives outside on the street. If i had a garage it would be tucked up in there, but alas I dont...Its been vandalised twice and regularly gets spat at etc. Mental note to self...when buying next house, make sure it has a garage.

They must be jealous!!!
I would be, but I wouldn't go to
that extreme.
Mine is parked under a carport.
But I would still love a garage.
I could never park my car on the
street, I wouldn't be able to sleep
at night.

I got mine parked in the driveway, but backing out onto Sepulveda is a REAL pain. People going like 60mph or bumper to bumper congestion, sigh.

Get an alarm, lock the steering wheel in place and close all windows no matter how hot it is outside and make sure that you don't park in dark alleys or "jacking spots"

A car cover just says to burglars and thieves " Jack me please!"

Also if you can park the car in front of a wall or something where nobody can smash into it and run off.

My Celica is basically out there in the open... Its under a carport like right there on the street, and the carport is like 30 feet away from my house... I keep it under a cover just to kinda disguise it, and to keep neigborhood cats off it... Theyre little dirty paws can scratch up the new paintjob...

I kinda wish it wasnt out there, cuz my sister's car use to sit there and then one day it got broken into.. So.. yeah... Kinda nervous that the Celica sits out there, cuz I have WAY more in my car then what she had in her car at the time...

But Im not too worried about it... My alarm is like over the top sensitive, so if you just walk by it, it chirps a warning alarm at you, which is then sent back to me by a pager that tells me something is up... When the alarm goes off, the pager beeps nonstop, which is our signal to get our asses up and check on the car...

Get a good alarm system and you should be fine...

from my experience thieves wouldn't really touch your car unless you have something eye catching(cd decks, subs, racing seats, etc...). unless it's someone that knows about 6gc's...i got my jdm tails and non of my friends noticed them...and on top of everything if they really want your car most likely it'll be a pro because toyota ignitions aren't easy to pop biggrin.gif but the 6gc are easy to get into frown.gif ....so just don't leave anything that may look valuable/easy to sell off the street lying around...

thievees dont always steal a car to steal whats in them

my bros 84 custom built supra was stolen and nothing was gone except the stereo. They obvioulsy had no idea what was under the hood and the wheels were Fikses. so thieves dont always steal for something..sometimes they just wanna joyride

but i wouldnt worry about the celica. just keep it close to where you lay your head

Until I find a house unfortunately it's outside. I got one door ding here, and to say
I was pissed would be a huge understatment. Now i park between my truck and my old nieghbors
broken down jeep he left here. Its a pretty good nieghborhood though.

I park my Celica on the street behind my truck (which has more tools in it than both vehicles are worth, ha!). I live on a side road and we don't get a lot of traffic. The first thing I bought for my car was an alarm. My coworker spent a ton of money on a stereo and amp in his Acura but was too cheap to get a $100 alarm. Car got stolen, stereo gone, amp gone, wheels gone.

Get an alarm. I have this one and like it a lot:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-aTApUBWOQyz/c...01&I=514CG533I4

Tint your windows too so they can't see what's inside. Get some locking lug nuts if you have nice wheels. Get a club. Every little thing you can do adds up to the thief looking elsewhere for an easy score, like my coworker (still no alarm).

interesting stories...im gettin scared lol nah. Since i work at Fry's electronics, i was walkin around on my break around the car alarm section. I saw an alarm system that was really nice, i think by viper. It'll tell you when someone is standing near it for 1min ( you can set it to longer so they say ) but it'll notify you through ur led key chain. I thought that was bad a$$er, with the associate discount it was about %50 off WOW! hell yea it was almost as good as Best Buy when i was workin there. YAY They also have cameras that you can put in ur car. welps if you guys want a good discount on alarm find someone working at best buy. You could almost get over %50 off on any audio or anything on car over there. biggrin.gif
