Well everyone, I've had just about enough of working nights, and several other things have gotten me seriously thinking about going fulltime out in the shop. For one thing, I'm tired of my job, and I really want to be able to dedicate more time out in the shop so that I can turn these swaps out faster. Plus, I want more flexablility in my own life.

That said, I'm now actively working towards making Phoenix Tuning a fulltime shop. I've already registered the business in the state of VT, and most of the related paperwork is taken care of.

Plans for the future include more engine swaps, developing turbo kits and other performance parts for the '90s and newer Celicas and Corollas, and eventually other cars, along with doing wiring harness conversions. I may dabble in buying, fixing, and selling cars as well, if those things don't keep me busy enough.

So, if you've thought about having an engine swap done, but you need it done quicker than a timeframe that I've previously given you, now's the time to hit me up again. And please spread the word!

Right now the launch date is looking to be in the next 4-5 months or so, by that time I'll have all of my debt paid off and the last of the tools that I need bought. So, end of May is the preliminary date!

hey Dr Tweak,

have you made a price list of cost for swaps and what are the expected time frame for a 3sgte swap - i'm interested in a 3rd gen swap -- whats your labor charges -

oh and congrats on the decision = hope the business will become a success

I do have a general price list on my website, yeah. The labor on that swap into your '96 GT would be $1000. Should have it done in about 2 1/2 weeks (assuming I don't have to wait around for any parts).

you missed the time-frame part of his Q, but that is a very reasonable price IMO. does that include harness?

Probably $500 - $1000. Generally, if you have the time, it's cheaper to drive it and fly back.

Yeap, just give me warning that it's coming.

Also, my advice: don't waste the extra money on a clip.

Dr, just a heads up
if you're going to tell people not to get a clip, have them source all the added parts tongue.gif you'll have clips sitting there for some time if they buy a engine set THEN source.
this is, unless you want then to buy a motor set and then you will be sourcing the parts???

mr2oc obviously the best place to source parts.

The idea is NOT to have clips sitting around, they take up tons of room! LOL! Engine sets aren't a problem.

Anyway, I've had good success getting engine sets and sourcing the parts at the same time. Haven't had a problem yet... well... not one I wasn't able to solve pretty quick.

I do plan on developing a good quality turbo kits for the 7AFE, so stay tuned for that. In fact, if anyone wants to have the first one built on their car, they might even get a discount...

When I say "good quality", I mean a kit that, for one thing, actually was designed for, built on, and tuned in a Celica. IE, not that ghetto-kits.com peice of garbage.

doing it right and doing it cheap are two Way different things.
i have 2 "cheap" turbo setups on the 5sfte. yeah it was awesome cause i did it myself.
so it wanst really a "kit" but yeah. i still did it cheap. it was fast but not as fast as a well put together kit. ur engine will love you more if u do things right. and sadly doing things right cost alot more.

I might put one together, but it will be more like $2500.

Like John said, you can do it cheap and get away with it, but if I'm going to be marketing a kit I want it to have a good reputation of being high-quality.
