i have some sort of leak and i don't know what it is. the liquid is pretty slimmy with little to no color -> clear. (it might have a slight tint of dark oil color to it in some places). the leak is near the oil pan. overnight, the puddle becomes about say, 8cm in diameter. the fluid has no smell to it.

do you guys know what it could be? i can't find where its leaking from even if i go under the car. the car runs fine too. My friend says it could be transmission.

help me please!

tranny oil wouldn't be clear. it's thin brown fluid just like motor oil.

could it just be condensation dripping off the car, or does it happen every night?

Sorry, i'm posting this AMCMoe
QUOTE
Hey,

Funny you mention you have a leak near your oil pan. I just came in from doing my tranny fluid and saw your post. My axle seal is leaking, and the tranny fluid was getting too low for my liking, nearly half a liter had leaked out

Try looking for these possible leaking places-

passenger side axle seal. if it is tranny fluid, it might be leaking from there. But since you say its clear, that almost rules out that possibily that its tranny fluid unless its lubricated with water. lol

steering fluid leak?

brake fluid? if it's brake fluid, tow it to a reputable place to get fixed. brakes aren't anything to screw around with unless you absolutely know what you're doing.

maybe the hose to the windshield washer fluid resevoir is leaking.. I filled up mine in the summer because it was completely empty; only to find out that the hose was MISSING and all the fluid I poured in there was now all over my garage floor. laugh.gif

Think you'd be able to take any digital pics? I might be able to help you out better with some pictures.

i got some questions. correct me if i'm wrong but isn't brake fluid on toyota's green or something like that (atleast some color to it?) and by saying tranny, does that mean transmission fluid? <- sorry i don't know these trems.

yeah tranny = transmission. I think the brake fluid is green, yes.

How about this- any of your fluid resevoirs seem lower? If you see the puddle on the floor, get under the car and look directly above it and follow it up.

Power steering fluid is clear and somewhat slimy. You'd know soon if this was it. You'd lose ps.

what about the picture above? isn't that the transmition that's leaking?
plus i don't think its the power steering fluid since power steering fluid smelled different then the fluid on the ground.

def. tranny fluid. thats the lower point on the transmission - looks like it might be comming from the cv joint -> tranny. my guess.

didnt john, the one who use to own a 6gc SELL off his 6gc cuz he kept on getting bad axles?

Huh? You can see the CV joint in the picture, and how would tranny oil come from the CV joint?

If its tranny oil - the only way there is fluid coming from the axles is if the seal between the axle and tranny has gone bad.

The axle itself cant leak unless the CV boot is torn, where it would be grease, not oil.

bad axel seal.
thats definetly tranny fluid, and id be willing to bet that the bad seal is whats causing it.

here's my advice, you could try paying a shop $20 to inspect what it really is and see how much they will charge you to get it fix, try other shops too and see how much they charge, or if some of these guys in here will tell you what to fix, good luck, i feel your pain, im leaking coolant right now
