Hey all smile.gif my name is Ryan and I found out about 6gc.net after searching through Phat_99CelicaGT's profile on another site. It looks like a really cool site and it is so nice to be surrounded by a lot of beautiful Celica's (the 6th gen Celica is the last body style that I like). So I have decided to stay for a while and share some pics (I hope this is the correct place to do this).

My first pride and joy was a Red Toyota Celica that I purchased new in late of '94. This story is going to show you the days that I smiled from ear to ear and also the times that I cried my eyes out while I owned her. Here she is right after I brought her home from the dealership....

user posted image

She stayed pretty much stock for about 6 years and then I started to mod her a bit by doing a '99 front end conversion with the front emblem and license plate holes molded off. Also installed custom clear turn signals and clear parking lights....

user posted image

Added Ground Control coilovers and struts to help give it a lower stance along with OEM Toyota Celica GT alloy wheels....

user posted image

Installed a GReddy SP catback exhaust system which produced a nice low tone....

user posted image

user posted image

Then it was time to work on the interior. First was a custom dual gauge pod that housed Cyberdyne digital air/fuel and volt meter gauges. Second was a Kenwood flip out touchscreen DVD/CD/TV unit with added navigation for the driver and then a 6.5" lcd screen molded into the glove box for the passenger. Lastly I molded custom switches into the center console (can be seen right in front of the shifter)....

user posted image

user posted image

user posted image

user posted image

I then upgraded all interior speakers by adding 6.5" Rockford Fosgate component systems up front and 6.5" Rockford Fosgate coaxials in the rear. For the boom boom, I built a custom box that housed 4 Rockford Fosgate 10" HE2 subwoofers and powered all that with a Rockford Fosgate 1000 watt mono channel amp and dual Rockford Fosgate 1 farrod each capacitors....

user posted image

user posted image

user posted image

I drove her around for a while loving everything that I had done and then one day the motor went kabluuee....

user posted image

With the new motor installed, I decided it was time to work on the engine bay. Customized an AEM intake to work and powder coated it red to match the car. Also powder coated the valve cover and screwed on a TRD oil cap. Then came my favorite upgrade of all time....a rare discontinued 3 point TRD strut bar!!!!

user posted image

I then started to move towards the performance side of modifying the car and added a OEM Carbon Fiber hood along with TRD style bucket racing seats. I also custom fabricated silver mesh grill for the front bumper. Here she is at the August 16/17, 2003 NOPI show after taking 1st place in the mild category....

user posted image

user posted image

(The 1st place results can be viewed here at the NOPI webpage)

The funny thing is when NOPI posted the pictures, they labeled my Celica as an Integra rolleyes.gif

(The picture NOPI took of my Celica can be seen here)

The other cool thing is my Celica was on the NOPI Tunervision Show that is featured on SpeedTV from that 2003 event. They do a scan of the first row of show cars and you can see a pretty red Celica. Sorry, not trying to brag, just very happy with getting on TV smile.gif

With all the time and effort I had put into the Celica, I knew one day I was bound to come across some bad luck.

*This is a warning to the users who have a weak heart*

I decided one night to go over to my girls house and have a nice relaxing night over a couple of drinks. We both had a great time and I ended up staying over there. What really sucks is that her mom woke me up the next morning to what has become the worst day of my life....

user posted image
user posted image

....As you can see nothing was left untouched in the engine bay, interior and exterior. What really sucks is that I had put on some 17" Konig Rated R wheels (Volk TE-37 copies) about a month before this happened and now they were gone along with everything else. It hurts me too much to look at these pics so I will be back with another update in a couple of days.

Thanks for the welcome Tina and here comes the worst of it....

The vandalism and theft of my Celica was a while ago and yes the insurance did take care of everything. But then they turned around and dropped me because the claim was so high. Oh well!

Now it is time for the 3rd and final installment of "the life of my pride and joy!"

After changing insurance companies, I put the Celica back to the way it was before it was vandalized and tried to continue on with my life. The only major upgrade was to the alarm which now had every gadget known to man and was so loud now when it went off, that my nieghbors complained because it would wake them up also tongue.gif

I started to attend more smaller shows and was having a grand ole time until one night. I was hanging out with some friends about an hour from my house and finally decided to head home around 2 in the morning. I was at the stop sign right before this really curvy road called Joplin and something came over me.....I for some reason made myself lock and fully tighten down my 4 point harnesses and I continued on home. Then out of no where, three deer came across the road right in front of me on one of the tight turns and I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story....

The deer smacked my rear driver side quarter panel which put me into a spin. I then ended up going backwards across the road into the woods where I hit a stump. This caused the car to flip over in a weird angle and landed on the roof. It then rolled back over onto its wheels and I came to a stop in the ditch on the other side of the road.

I know it is ugly but I came out with only a small nick on my knuckle and I can say that being fully strapped in with the 4 point harnesses is what saved my life. I don't know why it was not my time to go but I have lived my life to its fullest since that day. Yes, the Celica was totalled and my pride and joy went to the crushing yard along with all the dreams that I had for her.

Sorry to end the story on such a sad note but here is where it gets happy again. It was now time to get another car but I was not sure what to get. All my friends drove Honda's so I ended up buying a 1994 Red Civic Hatch and have had tons of fun with my new "pride and joy".

First: I would like to thank everyone for the kind words.

Second: Even though I do not own a Celica anymore, I still have the toyota blood running through my veins and that is why I am on this forum.

Drocay / playr158: I had no idea that there were other modded 6th gen Celicas in the NOVA area! You have to come out to the Mid Atlantic MEGA MEET in April so that I can see your rides.

The accident happened back in late September of 2003 but I will never forget about that awesome car. I fought for a long time with the insurance company to get the most money back but I still got screwed in the end. So then it was time to look for a new car. I was thinking about getting aother 6th gen because I cannot stand the 7th gen but instead of a Celica, I starting looking for a Supra. The problem was that I had no idea that they were still really expensive. My 2 best friends both owned a Honda and I ended up buying a 1994 Honda Civic Hatchback. I have never been disappointed with that decision because I have had some great times with the Civic. Here are some pics of her....

thats horrible luck there, makes me apprectiate i live in a decent area. just curious, when your car got vandalized, was that before any modifications? if so i can see why you stuck with the gt wheels after that. i just noticed it had amber sidemarkers in that pic. nice civic, but i hope you get a 6 again... there just so much sexier. smile.gif

wh...wh...what did you say? we have a honda lover here amongst us, time to get the pitchforks and clubs! na i agree honda is just as good as toyota in terms or reliability, overall quality, but styling... hell no. smile.gif all hondas look way too generic for my tastes.

It is a PasswordJDM intake which is an exact copy of the J's Racing intake, just a lot cheaper in price but not quality.

I am sorry that I cannot give you all the info about the motor that was swapped in due to not really knowing that much about it. I was more focused on other things while I was modding the Celica and put my trust into a local shop of mine that was owned by some very close friends to build the motor for me. It started off as a 7A-FE block and head that was fully built with custom internal engine parts manufactured by their machinist. They had never worked on the 6th gen Celica until mine and it was a learning experience. The JDM 3S-GE and 3S-GTE swap was not popular at all back then for the 6th Gen and we had to make due with what resources were available. Dont get me wrong, the new motor was incredibly strong for naturally apsirated but the 3S-GTE just has a lot more room to expand power wise due to it being a turbo motor from the factory.

They were not real TRD seats but copies. I know that the real TRD seats are manufactured by Recaro and run around $1400 for the pair but I have only seen 2 sets in person and they are gorgeous. Here is what the 2 sets that I have seen look like....

Actually it is a 1996 JDM Type-R (B18C) with intake, header, and exhaust tuned with Hondata putting down 184whp and 129wtq. I actually was racing for Quality Tire in the comp4 class for 2 seasons but stopped because she is also my daily driver and I could not take the chance of breaking parts anymore. My best times so far are....

13.066@102.02mph in the quarter / 8.20@82.16mph in the eighth

I am also very close with John, Jeremy, Matt and Stan at inlinePRO; Norris, Jason and Loan at Ultimate Performance; Martin, Johnathan and the rest of the guys at The Speed Factor; Robbie and Matt at RedSH!FT; James and Jeremy at Promotion Tuning.

Currently I am getting the body work finished and then she is going in to get painted Renaissance Red. Then I am hoping to sell her because the Toyota blood stills runs though my veins.

That was the original plan but after putting a lot of thought into it, I honestly do not want the Civic anymore. I also own a 2004 RSX Type-S that I purchased not too long ago....

Wow, I see deer-car collisions all the time around here and I've never heard of a deer-rear quarter collison that caused the back end to kick out. That ****er must've clocked you hard... that or you freaked out (who wouldn't). I guess you learn something new everyday. Sucks. Did two of them hit it? Why are there two dents back there?

There is a possibility that more than one deer ran into me but I am not 100%. However, when I swerved to the right, I might have lost traction in the rear with the dirt and gravel on the side of the road after the deer collided with me. I have no luck with deer because a doe came out of the woods and ran smack into the side of my front driver side fender of the Civic. So now that is going in for body work and a fresh paint job. biggrin.gif

Just an update for everyone....

I no longer own the civic but I stayed true to what I said about the toyota blood still running through my veins. I went out and picked up my dream car. Here is a teaser pic until I get more....

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

Ive never really been a big fan of the 6gc coupe's but i would have to say that that is probably the best one i have ever seen. It looked extremely clean for what it was. biggrin.gif It just sucks that something that beautiful had to die frown.gif and Geez you have a gorgeous Supra, you have good taste in imports and the way you make them turn out looking....

woot.gif wheres the drool smiley when i need it. that is amazing! looks like it just came off the showroom floor. i bet that cost a pretty penny, if you dont mind, how much does a 98 tt 6sp with 35 k go for these days? and do you have any high-res photos for wallpaper, great pics! thumbsup.gif

It ran me $38,000 but I feel it is well worth every penny due to the near perfect condition that it is in. I have already been offered more than $40,000 for the car from 3 different people but I am not going to sell it. I bought the car to enjoy and I ensure you I will. I should be able to get any of the original high res pics so which ones are you interested in?

38k, definitely worth it for a dream car. and like you said, thats in great condition. and dont forget the supra has got to be one of the few cars that are actually a financial investment because the damn things appreciate tongue.gif . for that money though, the is350 looks mighty tempting.

What kind of job do you have that makes the money to buy all them freakin' cars!!??? Holy shizzle!

It is sad the path you went down but with the car you ended up with... biggrin.gif

One of my friends just bought a white 94' civic hb and I was wondering how much you spent on the b18c swap? We've been planning his build and that was one of the motors that was debated on.

(another friend also got an 06' rsx type-s but that is besides the point)

celicaST - Once I get the high res pics, I will send them to you over a PM.

frosty - I am a International Cooperative Programs Analyst for the U.S. Marine Corps. There is a lot of information that I will pass on about the B18C swap so, have your friend PM me.

playr158 - We are currently working on getting the MEGA MEETs started back up but it is not looking promising. I am not giving up because we have way too many people backing us on what we did.

Thanks, the main reason why I bought it is because of how clean it is. I took me a long time to save up the money for this purchase but it is well worth it. Think about it....if you save $300 a month for 12 months, that comes out to $3600. Then keep saving for 10 years and you now have $36,000. It does not take that much a month but you have to be willing to save it and never touch it until you have enough to buy exactly what you want.

Have you sold that damn trunk carpet yet?? That'll help you fund that incredible Supra that you got there. The car is amazing!! Congrats! If you want to sell my red car hood that I exchanged with you, that is fine by me. I really don't know when or think it is worth the gas money to come up to just get the hood. I would rather come up and see you to show off my car against your mighty Supra tongue.gif I think that might be a pretty cool photo shoot...my Red Celi (pretty stock exterior except for GT-4 Blocks now), also in great condition, with your might Supra that is worth ten times more ha ha. Anyways, you are a good guy and deserve the car and lucky to have a wife that supports your hobby. smile.gif

I actually just sold the OEM trunk carpet the other day LOL. Thanks for the compliments on the car and you are more than welcome to come up and see it any time you want. We could even plan a photo shoot if you want. I will give you a call later this week to talk about the hood.

p.s. Terri is not my wife but she is my girlfriend....and very supportive of the hobby because she loves cars as much as I do biggrin.gif
