Well, im desperate... finding a junked LHD celica here - is near to imposible... I already bought all the parts i need to repair, but RHD to LHD conversion isnt going as i planed frown.gif Stuck on Firewall, i cant find it ANYTHERE in damn Lith and around all other countrys... Cuz all the Junked Celicas are either from UK or from UK... All LHD ones are already pressed, and are in Celica heaven lol...

If someone would be willing to cut the damn firewall out of the parted out celi - i would be more then happy.... I could show there it needs to be cutted out... I know shipping would be overkill - but i need this damn thing...

Let me know guys.

Thanks,
Romas

I have two extra Celis that could be cut apart. How much work is it to cut out the firewall? Because I'm rarely home and when I am I never have much time.

bout hour if Engine is out. Not much to cut, basicly about 5 cuts need to be made.. but i would need to show you how (pics) cuz if done not right - then i will have no use.. Cuts need to be done Lower then the places it is connected, so what the guys at bodyshop could disconect it at the places it was originaly connected and weld it on the stock welding pionts...

man, you're having a hard time around here lately. Could you try and not use all the ............. and !!!!!!!! It's like typing in all caps.

I can't believe you guys have so many celicas just sitting around in junk yards, granted I live in a smaller town, but I called around to the only 2 junkyards I know in the area and neither had seen one in forever. I wish I could just go to the junk yard and find 4 celicas. rolleyes.gif

i'd say i'll just straight swap you your parts for mine so there is only shipping...

oh and BTW...in disassembling frame and such i notice most everything is tack welded...i'd assume the firwall might be as well..which would require just drilling the tackwelds and removing cutless..but i'm not sure on that one

ok got a price.. its gonna be like 500-750 for the firewall to be cut out and given to me, and then i would have to ship it so depending on shipping i dont kno the final price, i can have this thing in like a week though so if ur looking for something quick i got it, idk if u wanna spend 5-750 hundred seeing as i have no other estimate, everyone i talked to *3 junkyards and a foreign car garage* said its such a waste so i guess the price i got wasnt so bad, i was expecting like a 1000 or something, so yea lemme kno and i got it

are you just going to send him one out of ur parts celi and ship it and all that on goodwill? If so, I commend you, that is amazing. Granted we do not get along well at all together, but that would be simply amazing and make me have the utmost respect for you.

Daniel, this job needs to be done profesionaly, whats why i asked Dustin to cut a little bit more out of the weld, just what the guys at the shop here could undrill the firewall them self..

Dustin: YOU DA MAN!

Guys, just be carefull, overlook all the places where it is connected, cuz even today and local junkyeard i examinated the UK junked celi, and it seems like the firewall is sealed everythere with the silicone, and in some places it will be hard as hell to disconect it...

HUGE thanks. As about shipping - dont hurry - cuz i have to figure out the cheapest ways as posible...

pics ? we've got pics biggrin.gif

We didn't really think to get too many pics, we were more concerned with cuttin this mutha up.

A lot of interior was already removed so it was pretty easy to get to what we wanted. Started like this

user posted image

First we removed the heater core, streering column, main crash support bar, and some other interior goodies to make it look like this

user posted image

shot from the rear

user posted image

then step 2, cut

user posted image

front removed

user posted image

Manny with the Tweak pose wink.gif

user posted image

step 3 cut more

end result

I forgot to take a pic of the actual firewall, I will get one tomorrow and post it up.

When JDM guy yo is on the job, the job gets done. That's how we do it on the EC wink.gif

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

Hey doGGy, you can cut it to a smaller piece, here's a pic of it

user posted image

you also need all the blue circled parts

user posted image

That are the parts only for the firewall, but don't forget you'll need a lot more if you go from RHD to LHD!!!
I got my clip without engine for 500 euro from: Deijne

I even went back to get some parts witch I forgot.
Here is my Rebuild:

Rebuild ST205 WRC

If you need more pic of thing you need or a list of what's different just email me!!

I jus wanna throw this out cause im kinda confused about it...I know some kid who did a rhd conversion in his silvia..(went from left to right hand), and he didn't have to use a rhd fire wall. from what i can remember he jus cut holes where they needed to be cut in his ldh firewall and transplated parts...do you guys understand what im trying to say?, well if you do..why couldn't doggy jus do this...it seems alot easier and from a safty stand point, the structural integrity of the car is deffenetly not what it use to be. so if you could please clear up this confusion i would be thankful

actually jack, with the way we cut it out, and the way doggy is having it welded in, it will be just as strong as OEM.
and, id imagine, doggy wants it to LOOK stock.
and this way, it will.

Exactly what Manny said and not only this - on Subarus, Nissans and few other cars Firewall is "universal" basicly there are holes for both LHD and RHD side, only thing what one side is Closed, so all you need is to Pop up the holes out and you set.... And Toyota did it "wrong" way for us Conversion people smile.gif)

BacerTune

Damn man you saved me smile.gif Now i will know exactly where and how to make everything smile.gif Thanks ALOT biggrin.gif

Manny & Dustin - tonight i will send pics with all the areas marked where the cut needs to be done smile.gif Thanks THanks AND THANKS smile.gif

I didn't remove my front window, but be careful while welding, put something in front of it. I did not remove it because I didn’t replace the hole window wiper bucket. It to must work and there’re coming sometimes more then 4 layer of metal together. Here are some pics of what I picked up.

also needed: wiper arms, engine and everything off it, control pedals, ect
even your chair, don't forget, you can use your old chair pilow (got draws)

everything you see you'll need!! ecept the rear part for the hand break, I left it on the right side. Same as my mr2.

wiring , better cut it behind the chairs less work than inside the dash

I'm gone for few hours, but if you need more pic, Ill post it later for you. I also got every oem books for the celica so If you need diagrams or pic of that just name it!!

no thanx, this way it's easer to start for me it was sometimes a big puzzle.

I know what you mean, it’s the inlet for the fan from the climate system. The boll shape is the same on each side. So I closed the right side with the peace from the LHD car and cut a hole with a example from the inlet of fan I made of the LHD car. It save you a lot of troubel than replacing the whole thing.

user posted image

So you need the inside part that makes sure no water comes in. The one on the left side you'll take out, its welt on 2 place an some glue around. The big blue part I put in is some kind of anti vibration part. You'll need it. It's clued and fit perfect in your RHD car.

Than the other side

user posted image

So the wiper engine goes from left to right. It's different so you need it from the LHD car, with the wiper arms and the arm inside. also the plastic hood for it.
From the LHD car you need the inside piece that makes the wall stronger to mount the wiper engine. You can also use this part as an example for cuting a the holes. The right side you close by welding.

With the arm in side you can drill the other holes for mounting en flip the to in the middel. On the right side there's also a piece inside that makes the mounting place stronger. so you'll need the from the LHD car.
Finaly you close the hole on the left and cut a hole on the right see photo.

the wire thing:

user posted image

It's the wire behind the chairs or at the B-style. This connects the rear with the fusebox on the left side in the LHD car. So you have to make about +/- 20 wires a bit longer.

I used the all the RHD wires and inside parts of the fusebox. In the dash you take the RHD wire and let it make the way of the LHD wire.
looks like this at the end:

user posted image

The big engine wire that comes strait of the engine goes later trough the firewall on the right side. I did it this way because it saves on the cutting of the wires.

Ahh, now i get it smile.gif Does engine wiring need to be extended too? or there is enouth of lenght?

And im gonna make Fuel door and trunk opener on motors, so what i could place 2 buttons instead of these handles smile.gif

Another thing - how did you figured out the Heater problem? you just found the LHD air conditioning heater or what? cuz im still dont know what to do about this...

I think the engine wire is just going to make it to the middle under the dash. On the RHD cars it's going in on the left and for the LHD on the right. I have some pics for you how the wire mast go in LHD and RHD.

Good idea about to put some motors to open the trunk and fuel door. Are you also going to use a remote and door poppers to open your doors and to make the door cleaned?

In my JDM ST205, I have te full automatic climate control, see pic

user posted image

I used Everything of the dash of a LHD Celica, accept wiring. So I got the 3 parts of the climate system: Fan, air-condition unit and middle unit witch controls the air flow.

The fan of the LHD car I left original, is good as it is and no difference.

The air-condition unit I made open and replace everything of the wiring and radiator of the JDM unit. Because the JDM had some censors and wiring. But if you do not have the same control unit it is already good. Because this one works with electronic and the other one manual.

The middle unit I switched the to servo’s from the JDM to the LHD, you have to make one servo extension own custom made. It’s the one that moves the big valve to let outer air in (no problem for you I think wink.gif )

So yes you need the complete system of an LHD car and it has to have air co other wise you missing one unit. And it’s not possible to make the RHD one work because it’s totally mirrored.

I gonna search for some drawns in my oem books and post them than for you!

Yesterday I measured the engine wiring, it’s to short so yes you’ll have to make it longer!!
