NEW 2006 TOYOTA SUPRA(s) taking over Celica(s) Options

I know this site mainly on 6th gen celica(s), but I took my 1994 toyo celica to Toyota Dealership to get full diagnostic test on car why it was leaking oil and from where specially, I over heard the Manager of Toyota talking about the new 2006 toyota cars that were coming out...then the manager said something about the NEW TOYOTA SUPRA taking the celica(s) place; they've already stop the manufacturer in making anymore celica(s) and that the supra is comming in soon. It is going to be displayed in September 06` as well as putting it on the lot for sale. The HP on bone stock SUPRA is 500HP guarantee...some come in twin turbo and others will have toyota's super-charger in it...still V6, 6-speed....have anybody heard anything on it.

Toyota hasnt stopped producing Celicas, just stopped shipping them to the US, along with MR2s. In my opinion, if there was any truth to this, it would have already been in all the big car magazines like Road&Track, Car & Driver. All thats been around is hearsay.

still v-6?...inline 6 maybe?? And its not confirmed yet. Trust me. My buddy Phil deals only in supras and he spends 4 months every year in Japan and theres no new talk of it. They are thinking about showin the closest concept to the actual car they are planning on bringing out in 2008 or 2009 thats gonna be uner the lexus name over here and is gonna have a more than $100K US price tag.

EDIT: newsflash, they stopped making the 7th gens about a year n a half ago.

i kidd you not....i talked to them personally after hearing this...maybe they were yanking my tail, but i couldn't believe it either because that's what i would have thought too, that they would announced through the import magazine or other sports car magazine...i could be wrong, but that's what they said. just like to know if anyone hear the same, that's all.

Hopefully headed for production (and the United States) in 2006 and likely based on the upcoming second-generation Lexus IS platform, the new coupe (which might get a new name) is said to be a modern interpretation of Toyota's classic 2000GT of the 1960s. Engines are set to be 3.0- and 3.5-liter normally aspirated V6s matched to a six-speed close-ration transmission. The curvy, compact, all-new sports coupe is expected to be a direct competitor to the Nissan 350Z, which certainly has enjoyed a successful head start. The previous Supra was last sold here in the 1998 model year, by which time it, like the last-generation Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo, had suffered dwindling sales as a result of high sticker prices and spiraling insurance costs. As Nissan has done with the 350Z, Toyota wisely will avoid expensive and complex twin-turbo engines for the new Supra, which should allow for asking prices in the $30,000 range.

sounds good. and that model supra looks much better than the other supra thread.

if a new supra was coming out this year, it would have been ALL over EVERY magazine, just like the new skyline was. They usaully have a few show models of the car before they finalize anything. So if you really believed that a new supra was cominig out that soon

Guys I wouldn't expect a new Supra for a few years yet. Toyota just got into NASCAR so give it some time. On top of that, if you don't see it with your own two eyes, you should regard most things on the internet as complete crap. ALSO, people that work out of dealerships don't know any more than the next average Joe. They're not connected to Toyota like that.

Don't get too excited, sit back, drive a Honda for a few years if you want a new sporty coupe. But don't expect anything from Toyota for a while.

i'm guessing it'll be around 350Z price for a V6(IS350 anyone?)
and a V8 w/ more power will prob be like 10k more.

my step dad told me months ago it was going to be made, but he hasn't said anything about it lately...they're probably worrying about other things right now

I really wish the supra would come back. But v-6?? I think that's getting too far away from the Japan Supercar uniqueness that the supra and skyline helped layout. I'd like to see toyota bring back an inline-6 and turbo it. Props to the old supras that are still kickin strong after x00,000's of miles. There are too many z's and tiburon v-6 setup that are blowing holes in blocks and snapping rods after being boosted without being built. The inline-6 has proven itself and I would love to see that on the market.

V set ups supposedly have several advantages over inline. . .i haven't seen proof of the "hamonic" one. .. :\

just looking at the new GT-R pretty much sums it up that there will be NO Inline 6s from now on

sorry if i'm forgetting a car, but i can't think of any inline 6 set-ups. . .
