Today i race a friend kia that claims to have the same hp as me. So after work we did a 20mph run. But he hears a loud weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee noise liek a turbo and i was wondering if u guys know what that is. I got the video. The noise that intimidate ppl....lol u have to wait a lil bit to let it load.

What BOV sound are you guys talking about? He is talking about the whhhhhhhhhhhssssssshhhhhhhh, whistle sound that turbos make. But that isn't a turbo it sounds more like a cold air intake.

edit: btw i believe the whistle sound u guys are talking about is the sound of a turbo spooling up

if he's talking about some kind of whistle sound that would be stock it could be his transmission. I hope this dosen't sound weird but at certain rpms between 2k and 3k I can hear my trasmission in gear and I once had a friend think it was a turbo. It kinda sounds like the jetsons cars, I usually only hear it at low speeds, ie. going through a parking lot.

well when i bought the car. it was like that, the owner said he had put another motor there and it was from japan. He have the receipt and everything. But its not rice out or anything. A friend told me its the vvti, but i donno anything about that. he check the exhaust and the motor and its pure stock. its not that cheapy **** on ebay i saw. i would b embarrass to even show that. But yea what is it???

What does the motor say on the top?If youre saying your friends said something about vvti you might have a 3sge but iam not sure, somebody else could proably verify this or not.

lol im pretty sure i have a 5sfe. im pretty sure! lol cuz it looks like the exact same motor on my convertible celica. pfft I wish i had a beam motor. but yea the whistle noise only gets there when i get to a high rpm. i guess if theres a meet in tx, i can show it. but in second thought there is no such thing as a jdm 5sfe. the seller told me he got it from japan? But when i saw the receipt it was partly in jap. hmmm ill make another clip and take more pix.

eh, no turbo noise in thoes videos, I have the same kinda thing in my car, the wissle sound at higher rpm's under load. not a trubo spool but a wissle, kinda funny i think.

side note: anything you put on your car intended to deceve people into thinking its more then it really is, is rice.

when i had the stock intake on my car it made a noise like that, but only above 4k at WOT. as soon as i changed intakes it went away

you might have a crack in the rubber intake hose between the box and the throttlebody? I had one of those, cost $70 from toyota for a new one.... those bitches.
