good luck with that....your looking at at least a turbo, or 3sgte swap.
There arent any bolt ons, that are going to give you that much power difference.

OK OK I get so tired of this crap. I work for a race team that runs a 4th gen with a 1st gen 3sge. EVERYONE says we shouldn't even be able to compete against the integras, pintos, and hondas......and every week we fight for the win. Yes there is VERY little R&D here in the states. I bang my head daily in frustration trying to find more speed, more parts, more of anything. But the car is fast. The car can win poles and races. You just have to research things and work for speed.

If you build the 5s a little, and shave a little wieght, you should be able to beat the Altima. Lots of guys do turbo set ups on their 5sfe's. The turbo will be a little more complicated. Swaps are 20v 4age silvertop, 3sge, Beams, and 3sgte. There are a couple others, but those have the most info on them. Search for header, cold intake, and exhaust to get an idea of what to do there. That's what I would do first, to see if thats enough for now. Good luck.

the turbo is very viable option. A decently tuned 5sfte will put out 200 whp. and you will be fine
. or swap 3sge or 3stge

Hmm, intake and exhaust sounds good. As for swapping motors or dropping a turbo, I'm a little broke as of now. But yah, as for shaving weight, nearly impossible... I like my audio to much biggrin.gif . Maybe i just cut out the floors and turn it into the fred flinstone mobile biggrin.gif.

I think that would be enough HP!

intake and exhaust alone will only raise your hp by like 10 15 ish. but the flinstone mobile conversion sounds like a pretty good idea. and you save money on gas too.

I think that's a pretty liberal estimate. But it really helps throttle response. If you get the right stuff, with a header, 15hp isn't to bad of an esimate.

a good cai and a real performance exhaust could get around 10+ hp. but either way, it won't make too much of a difference.

I think that is an underestimate. These cars were made pre 2000. So they just weren't made with the technology to work the best. Putting these little things on them do add hp. And most definately more than 3. 3-7 is a bad estimate. My car is not fast, but I know I've picked up more than 3hp from my mods. Don't be so depressing.

Amen, cause I'm just a high flow filter and exhaust man myself.

actually dustin is right
3-7 hp is probably all your goin to see on an NA celica
with intake and exhaust

unless someone has a DYNO CHART to prove other wise...

yea didn't think so cause i think only about 10 people on here have been to a dyno

Let’s see a dyno chart that says only 3hp-7hp gain from a CAI and a full exhaust system. Then I'll believe you. There's some out there that think the only way to get any power is by some form of turbo. I'm telling you, it's an old car and it wasn't made efficient. It can easily pick up decent hp from simple things. What got the idea in everyones heads that it doesn't pick up hardly any anyway? I will admit, some engines respond better to simple bolt on than others. But the ones that don't respond as well, are usually newer cars.

EDIT: Kwanza is here, I'm curious to see how this turns out. Please post Kwanza, tell us your thoughts.
