hey guys my flex broke today i jus wanna kno do i really need a flex pipe on my car.......i have heard that the car needs it cuz the engine moves around alot

eh, should have one, helps with rattle-ing pipes, but its not a absolute must have, i dont there there too costly compated to having a peace of pipe custome weilded in its place.

um take it off? I'm sure you could cut it off, I'm not sure if its bulted in or if its part of the downpipe, never though about it.in fact does the celica even have a flexpipe stock? i dont remember even noticing.

I dont know why you wana run without one but if you fell so inclided to do so talk to a muffler shop and have en take it off.

theyre usually welded inline with the rest of the exhaust piping, you are going to need some extremely soft bushings in the mounts, or it could rattle the mounts loose or worse yet crack the exhaust piping. flex pipes are designed to absorb the excess vibrations and bucking of the engine so that it doesnt get transfered directly to the mounting hardware. With the hood open, stand and watch the motor and have a friend start your car up, you'll see the motor bucks a ****-ton when the car is started up. personally i wouldnt remove a flexpipe just because you will likely have other exhaust related issues down the road.
