Do you find strippers offensive?? Options

Ok, so my 19th b-day is comin up a week tomorrow (sweet) and 19 is the legal drinking age in ontario (double sweet). Any ways..my friends from work usually go out on thursday nights for socail events. Any ways, since its my b-day, my friends wanna take me out to this place called Whiskey A-Go-Go's..its like a famous strip club in Toronto. Any ways, they wanna take me out and they said invite any of my other friends. So i called up my college buddies, and some of the guys i used 2 work with. Every one said they would come except 1 guy. He says that "Strippers are so offencive and that if he wanted to see a naked women, he would rather see them in private then on a stage." This guy is pretty weird non the less though. We got him to wear a snowmobile helmet at the auto parts counter for 4 hours straight. He didnt see any thing wrong with it. Any ways, for every one out there, the main question

Do you take offence to strippers?? And if so, why??

my $0.02, if they wanna get paid a good amount of $ to take their clothes off infront of a bunch of drunk guys, go for it. Its their choise and maybe the only way 2 make $ for them.

im not offended. Ive been to 3 lady strip clubs and 1 male one. Here in Seattle we will be getting a 4 foot law soon. So no more private dances lol!

agreed, i wouldnt go to one. i cant say i have anything against the women who choose to do so though. i remember reading an article in local paper about girl here at CSU who was paying for her college ed through stripping. i remember in the article, she said whe got a 3k tip one time! damn sign me up na seriously though, i have nothing against it or the strippers, its just not for me. i mean getting teased is only fun for so long

I dont think strippers are offensive nor do i think they should be looked down upon for what they do. People need to work and make money, and there is nothing wrong with using what talents, learned or natural, you may have to do it.

Im sure your friend has an unenlightened view of the exotic dancer profession and/or is uncomfortable with sexuality in general and is using the 'exploitation of women' defense to hide it.

There is nothing wrong with strippers in my book. My ex girlfriend of 5 years was/is a stripper. Perfectly respectable girl but she did it to make money and that was it. It helped her through college and to buy her first flat. Like she said, the guys are there to look but cant touch. I see her often and she is still the same. And i must admit, that it was always good going to where she worked, and seeing all my friends amazed that she was leaving with me - yee ha !

I do know that in certain places some of the girls are pretty rough, but if you go to a decent place you'll see pretty girls dancing which to me isnt offensive in any way.

I'd say they're more likely to have an STD given their choice of occupation. It's a small step into the world of prostitution and I'm sure many of them have taken that next step. Maybe not all, but If it were me I wouldn't take that chance.

ive been to many strip clubs and even dated a few girls that striped at one point. you soon figure out that these are just normal girls with great bodies that figured out how to make money from them. hell, i even dated one girl who used to strip but was a virgin!

i think some of the people on here have never been to a strip club. they just automaticly think that striper=hooker, and thats far from the truth. the only place youll find girls like that are at a super nasty, ghetto club.

the only thing bad about them, is that you have to remember that if you meet one while she is working, and she starts talking to you, then its only because she wants to make money.

I have been to a stirp club a few times, the first time I had just turned 18 so a friend took me, I gata say I liked it. like $8 for a soda though, more ice then soda really.

the seccond time I went there was when I got off early from work and had nothing to do the rest of the night ( i worked nights at the time) so I figures why not, went there and hong out for a wile, it was great because there where maybe 2 other people there not including the 3 chicks that were there. anyway I got a good deal of attention. skipping to the funny part, I acceptded an offer for a lapdance, and wile she was waiting for the song to skip over (there timed to the start of the song i guess) me being me, just started talking to her, I asked her if she liked her job (she said she does when she is doing it but felt the indursty was going away) I said that yeah it probably was with the internet and all making it easy for pervs to get there fix, she did not really agree, but I gata say she was no airhead or whore, but a regular girl with a job. that she was quite good at if i do say so myself I gave he a $20 tip because i felt bad the place was empty and she was nice etc. she also said that she had to pay to work there, and only got paid what people gave her.

Strictly going by the definition of whore, yeah I'd consider you one. I'd also say you'd be more likely to have diseases, but I wouldn't assume you had them. Hiding behind a computer has nothing to do with it. I'd call my own sister a whore if I found out she was a stripper.

Obviously, no one is going to agree. Maybe we should delete off-topic posts regarding morality just like we delete the ones having to do with religion. No one will ever agree on either one.

Just because a woman takes her clothes off as entertainment does not mean she is more likely to have a disease. This goes back to what I said about stereotyping in this thread. That is such an ignorant statement. You people are confusing hookers with strippers. Hookers are actually having sex with people or providing a sexual service to get money; since it is illegal and these women are actually providing a sexual service to someone it is a fair assumption to say that they might have contracted some type of sexually transmitted disease. On the other hand, it is NOT a fair assumption to say a stripper who merely removes clothing as entertainment for men (or women) and does not provide actual sexual contact has some type of disease.
