Do you think tattoos add sex appeal?? Im gonna be goin and gettin some ink done next week with 2 of my friends..we have all been waiting for awhile 2 get one, and now..i figure if i get it..whats the wrose that could happen?? Some of my friends think that ppl with tattoos are sexy, some think it recudes sex appeal. What do you think??

EDIT: When i say tattoo, i mean like somethin modern and well designed..not some like gnarly battelship on some guys forearm or n e thin.

You could get hepatitis, make sure it's a clean place. Seriously, I just read that the other day. I don't like tattoos at all. They make absolutely no sense to me at all.

same here, you dont really know what youll think about it a decade from now. way too much chance for regret. as for sexiness, ive dated girls with them before. both had it on their lower back. i didnt mind them because they were small and discrete, but let me put it this way, if they didnt have the tatoo, they would have been just as sexy.

a tatoo on a lady can be sexy, but not always. You'll never see one on me.

I honestly don't see the appeal of them, but to each his/her own. Just be aware of the risks.

I think they're great on girls, but she has to have more than just that one on the bottem of her back. I like full back tattoos. I was thinking about getting my shoulder solid blacked or something. I like the tribal tattoos. It has to be done really well, or it looks like crap. No matter how well it's done, it will fade. But touch up are always possable.

I have a few now... and plan to get a half sleeve soon.

A good tip on keeping them looking nice for a long period of time: Everytime you shower, go swimming, or get it wet.. put baby oil on it afterward. I met a 70 year old man with a full sleeve.. that told me that.. and his sleeve was seriously almost perfect.

I don't find they sexy at all. They might look fine now but what happens when you start to age? Any body hear that episode of Mind of Mencia where he makes fun of people who get tatoos? I would only get one if it meant something special smile.gif

Is a "half sleeve" where half your entire arm is covered in a tattoo? What are you going to do when you go for an interview for a teaching position when it is hot in Florida?

Many of my fraternity brothers got them back in college and are professionals now and regret it. I think some tattoos look good for certain situations. For example, I like the barbed wire tattoo that Pamela Anderson has. I also think that tattoos that are generally hidden most of the time (like small discrete ones under the belt line) can look good on girls. However, I would not recommend anything that could not easily be concealled in important situations. Many people think they are trashy and, no matter what you think of those people, there is no benefit in sending that signal when you don't want to.

exactly. whether you like it or not, many people have stereotypes about people with tattoos, and your possibly limiting your options for careers. why would you want to do that?

Do your thing though! make sure its someething that means something to u! :-)

note on stereotypes - i heard a guy on teh radio say that he would never have a man with a tattoo or piercings handle his finances. Think about that!

uhh...im gonna b workin in a shop..ive learned from my father, im never gonna b a pencil pusher. He started off as an engineer and was doing repairs and installations of food packaging machines. Now in sales and is sooo freakin stressed out, never gets 2 see us cuz hez workin so much and absolutely hates it. If somethin happens and mechanic work doesnt workout for me, i can always do machinest work, i have background in robotics, and if worse comes 2 worse, if i do have tons of tattoos, i can still get a good job workin in an office. This guy that works with my mom is 35, has hair past his shoulders, plays guitar in a metal band and has full sleves of tattoos and no one cares. he wears long sleve dress shirts most of the time and short sleves sometimes..and no one cares. If you are so white collared that you think that every person with tattoos is like some punk or criminal or you cant stand to look over and see a tattoo for half a second that ur eyes are actually gonna be focused on it, get ur head out of ur a$$ and learn its a part of society. You wouldnt stare at some one with a physical birth defect or a physical injury like they are a freak.

people have birth defects or physical injury not by choice. i personally dont have anything against tattoos in general (although i wouldnt date a girl covered in them), but frankly it does show a little about yourself because it is a choice you make to be different. now even at my last job serving tables, our manager enforced covering all tatoos while working. one guy i knew always had to wear a long sleeve shirt because of his tattoos on his arms. and i guarantee you he got better tips because of it. its just a fact of life. just because someone refrains from tattoos doesnt mean their conformists, in my opinion, there are other, better ways to express yourself.

my tattoos arent gonna be a "way to express my self". my first tattoo is gonna b a memorial for my baby cousin who passed away 5 years ago at the age of 4 months from a brain tumor/anurism. Im gettin that as a symbol of love and memory for her, when she died i was going though alot of sh*t and it didnt really hit me untill a year after it happened. my sister has a small angle tattoo on her right ankel with her initials and the date, im plannin on gettin somethin on my left ankel with the same idea. My second tattoo im gettin is a black heart outline on my right wrist. For my entire life i never had a good relationship, never belived in love untill i met my current gf. And in about 7 months, im gonna be moving away from her for 2 n a half years. Its gonna be hard but i told her i would be with her. So its not a way to "express my self", but more a way to keep memories and show my feelings. I would never get a tattoo for the sake of gettin a tattoo.

go for it.. i have one.

the rule for tattoos is to get something universal or meaningfull to you. but dont get anything like Tazmanian devil, or a band name or something you might not like later on in life. ive had my tattoo for almost 10yrs now, i dont really remember that i have one half the time

Didn't you ask for opinions? Then, when people give you their opinion, you critisize them. Why? Some of us were just trying to point out that there are people that will treat you less favorably in some situations if you have them. Tattoos are just like clothing choices, hair styles, cleanliness habits, and other factors that form first impressions. Is judging based on these things prejudiced and ignorant? Perhaps. However, denying that it will happen because you don't think it should is even more ignorant. The question is: are there situations that you will be in where you will have unfavorable reactions from people due to tattoos? If the answer is no, I see no reason not to get as many tattoos as you want. If the answer is yes, the next question is whether you care. If the answer is no, again, go for it. If the answer is yes, you need to weigh the benefits and detriments. HTH.

I would stay away from tatoos on the hands/knuckles, face and neck. Alot of people who do the hiring are not very hip to them. You will get passed up on jobs in the future. Alot of my girlfriends in the past has had them. My current girl has 3. I personally don't like tatoos on women. Seems like every chick in AZ has one on her lower back. If your going to do it, hide it. Think when your wearin that dress and you have a large tattoo on your back. they don't go hand to hand.

K. I get that a lot. Many of my teachers in high school had tattoos. One even had 2 full sleeves. And I went to the #7 school in America. It's not as big of deal as it used to be. People are finally accepting them.

BTW: I am a part time teacher now, and NO ONE has ever judged me for it. I had my tattoos when I got the job, and they were showing. I actually get tons of compliments on it, and my kindergarten kids love it.

every summer i think about getting one but then i realize i dont know what the future holds for me. Id like to think i will marry a business man who goes to a lot of formal dinners at country clubs so I dont wanna think that one day I may wear a backless armani dress and then id have some hideous BULLS EYE on my lower back to try cover. I also am not one for pain and i witnessed my friend get her first one on her lower back and she was in tears the whole time.

I really don't understand why some people are so judgemental.. and really have the audacity to say that getting a tattoo is nasty.
But I guess that means I'm nasty. laugh.gif

Question: Is that why people think I'm ugly on here now? Honestly. Is this site that judgemental?

i have a large tribal scorpion on my left shoulder blade. no one would ever see it if i was working.. unless my shirt was transparent. i havent worked any where that allows tank tops at work so another way of it never being seen at work. i personally think anything below the neck line and above the elbows is fine, because most of the work environments (for men) require that you at least wear a short sleeved shirt. some times collard some times not. but yeah if you want to stay profssional and still have your tattoo's general rule of thumb is about the elbows below the neck line smile.gif PEACE

I have three. Writing on my left ankle, Honor Courage Commitment (nobody ever sees this one), a cross on my back, and USMC in old english and a bald eagle with tribal designs on my right arm. I hardly ever notice them, I usually forget that I have them. I love all of them though.

I was worried about getting my career started because of the one on my right arm because it comes down to almost my elbow, but they are so popular nowadays that they are acceptable. In my career, tattoos are normally NOT allowed at all. But, I got through.

Tattoos that can be hidden- upper arm & back- are okay on guys, but it depends on the tat. I dont really like them though. I think they're kinda trashy on girls, but thats just my opinion (lower back is okay though, i guess). I personally will never have one. When your young they're cool, but not so much when you get older.

Honestly, If your getting tattoo's for sex appeal you're getting them for the wrong reasons. I am heavily tattooed, From the neck down, But my 1 inch lobes get more reactions than any of my tattoos.

i have a tattoo on my lower back
ive never regretted it at all.. i got it in a place where you can see a little bit of it depending on what jeans i'm wearing, but for the most part its able to be hidden... but in the summer when i'm at the beach or soemthing, its out in the open
thats the way i wanted it

the only tattoos i really like on guys are the tribal arm bands.. but ONLY if they have hot hot arms biggrin.gif hahahha

oh.. and i passed out when i got mine from the pain.. i almost left half way through.. hahaha

tattoos are like piercings now, they used to be cool because they pissed off the older folks and were something that made you stand out but since older folks and every other geek has one now they arn't really cool (or sexy to me) unless there is some DEEP meaning behind it and thought put into it and those tat's are far and few.

reminds me, i worked with a guy who had a tattoo of his newborn son's footprint on his forearm with name and birthday underneath it. that was pretty cool.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
