when i got my new head unit installed, my antenna won't go up, of course because the wires don't match up like the factory player of the premium version. Don't really mind it since I can still pick up stations, plus the antenna kinda goes up really high and make irritating noises.

I have the same problem.
I just recently got my headunit installed @ a shop and a few weeks later i found that my antenna doesnt go down anymore, i can still hear the antenna motor going after i turn off my deck so it must be trying to go down. Is there any way to fix this?

mostly likely its the mast... I know when i first got the car.. the antenna would only go up 1/3 of the way and then just sound like it was grinding.. so i figured the motor was bad... so i pulled the entire thing and did a standard antenna conversion... but came to find out it was just the plastic mast teeth were broken. You can get one on ebay for like $40...

anywho.... someone stole the antenna so I went back and put in a universal power antenna and hooked it to a switch so I can control when it goes up... so it can look nice when i'm listening to cd's or at shows... but when i need the FM, i can just turn that baby on and let 31" of antenna bring in a signal tongue.gif

I just bought a generic power antenna from autozone when my old one crapped out. It was about 40 dollars and I used some of their mounting hardware and some from the old antenna to make it fit well. The tricky part is that you need a multimeter to figure out which wire does what on the harness that plugs into the old antenna. You need to find the 12v constant supply wire (that's so your anttena can go down when your car is turned off) and the 12 v signal wire that tells the antenna when your radio (am-fm part only, not the whole stereo) is turned on so the antenna isn't up when you're listening to a cd. For the negative you just ground the antenna to the frame of the car and you're good to go. It's a pain to work on and it takes a while to figure out what each wire does (there are probably ten of them and you really only need two of them).

Here's a link for low priced replacements. Does anyone have any experience with these? They sell a lot on ebay. They're supposed to come with the correct connector too so no rewiring.

I bought mine from AntennaX. It was a universal one. It worked good at first but I didnt use it for like 2 months and now sometimes it grinds.

I can't get my antenna hooked up to my Sony stereo. When I had the factory premium system it worked great but the sony only has like one hook up for the antenna or something like that. I bought the adapter thing they sell at Wal-mart that looks like an octupus but I still can't figure it out. Can someone help? The antenna doesn't go up and I get almost no signal - just static.
