Ive read in the celicas owners manual that the WRC GT4 weights 1200kg and the normal Gt4 weighs 1380kg is this true?

it says that the fuel tank is 8L smaller but thats all ive read that would make any difference. Im not sure if its stating the wet or dry weight tho.

If it is 1200kg, whats the difference that makes it lighter?

its true that gt four is 1380 kg.
a wrc doesnt have air cod., have light weight seats, no rear seats no interior trim. and many more light weight parts
its possible that a wrc gt four can be 1200 kg

1200kg is the weight limit to enter a wrc race

The WRC DOES have air conditioning, very few have lightweight seats, They do have rear seats, the truth of the matter is that the WRC actually weights more than the normal st205 because of all the reduntant parts fitted to the WRC that were fitted for the imalgimation rules. The fuel tanks are the same size aswell BTW.

Unless we are talking actual rally cars here.......

Im just taking about the limited (i think 5000) wrc edition gt4's that toyota produced in 1994 and were for the road.

The book says that the TTE Group A has a 60L fuel tank. Maybe its talking about the actual rally car and not the limited edition wrc road worthy GT4s?

Whats BTW?

Kinda off the topic. But I remember reading (maybe on this site) or hearing something on TV that the wrc gt4 had trouble meeting its weight requirement... got disqualified one year because of that?

All the road cars are the same.

1200Kgs will be the group A rally cars (WRC was much, much later) that actually competed. These were the beasts with 500-600lb'ft of torque, no interior, trick diffs and all the other good stuff that about half a million pounds can buy.

JDM ST205

Blitz Spec NUR Exhaust, somewhere over $1000
Needing another one 18000 miles later, bloody annoying.

My `normal`GT4 dosnt have anti lkock brakes either, nor does it have any airbags etc, but yours will have all the extra bits (unless you`ve removed them) ie water injection, anti lag circuit etc...all extra weight.......thats why your so slow laugh.gif laugh.gif
