This past saturday we drove from TX to North MO - i drove for like 10 hrs until she kept nagging me to let her drive because she noticed that i was getting tired. Normally I would not let her drive in the dark cause she can't see that well and has a tendency to not watch her speed.

We were about 20 miles from our destination in an area where houses were like 1/4 mile from each other - . Posted limit was 50 - she was going 57 - because i constantly kept an eye on her speed knowing she normally does not --

so we pulled over near an intersection - she rolled down the window - as he approach (this was within 30 seconds of us pulling over -) our dog in the back seat started barking - he said you were going a little fast there and asked her to step out and go sit in the front passenger of the squad car -- she turned to me looking weird - i thought it was a weird request too, since i never heard or seen it being asked by a law enforcer - back seat i can understand, but front??

before she got out of our car -- i asked him "sir is that required and necessary, cause i never heard of being asked before" he got an attitude and said "yes and its up to me whether i want to or not" - only reason why i questioned him was because we were like in the middle of no where and i don't know if this guy was a bad cop or not - i was worried for her safety -- only reason why i could think of that would cause him to make that request was because of the dog barking - but i stopped him from barking after 3 barks --

they both stayed in the squad car for like 5 minutes and she got back into our car and told me he gave her a warning -- she said he asked her has she been drinking (which was a no), but smelled beer on his breath

-- the trooper speed away first - about 5 miles later we saw another state trooper getting situated and was turning off his head lights preapring to catch a speeder -- we figured it was the same guy trying to catch us again --

if this was like near the city or something - i would of reported his butt - cause i don't think the way he handled the situation was right

Ya state troopers around here also put you in the front of the cop car. usually so he doesn't stand outside your window and a car hit him. Usually they do it because of that or if its snowing or raining.

Yeah ive seen a lot on the news about cops being hit on roads so it probably was a safety thing! If he would have inappropriately touched her then id report it. But if you felt uncomfortable maybe you should call and just let the department know...just then u wont ever think about if you should have called!

I thought that story was going to turn out like that movie "Crash" or something like that. I'm not sure the title but I think you know what I mean. . . Glad it didn't though.

the safety thing i can totally understand -

though this occured a little after 11pm - where no cars were around or driving by us the entire time we were pulled over -

i thought i was being polite by the way i asked him - there was no need for him to get an attitude -

The state police here usually put you in the front seat while they call in your information and also while waiting to get info back. It's actually pretty cool, you get to hear if you have any warrants, how many tickets you have had recently, stuff like that.

I think they let you in the front seat if they think you don't pose a threat to them, but if you look and act threatening, you ride in the back. biggrin.gif

studys show that most drunk drivers will not turn on there head lights. so as the trooper is standing outside of the car writing a ticket some moron with no headlights will take him out. yeah i would be kinda nervourse too if that happened to me but i can see why he had her sit in his passenger seat.
