Well i just got a '96 celica for 3600, i paid about 800 to a mechanice to just about replace and fix up everythign under the hood. Got new brakes and tires and now i want to do a bit of upgrading but i have no idea what to do!

my speakers are horrible but i have no idea what to buy

i was on ebay and just bought some headlight bulbs on ebay but when they arrived they said they draw from 100- 170 watts, i'm not sure, but doesn't that seem like way to much??

i bought a speed chip, some new gauges and a new intake, seat covers (previous owner was a smoker), and a dash kit.... non of which i have installed yet

i want to know what else i can buy to really make my baby stand out tho, i have a 1.8L 4 cylinder engine and just about everything else is stock... this is my first car, can anyone help me?

Well there are a lot of body kits out there that look nice depending on your tastes. With the 1.8L 7AFE engine you are limited on HP but without swaping the engine for a larger one, you could upgrade the exhaust to go with the intake. Most stuff depends on how much money you want to put into it. As for the headlights that does sound high. If you get too high in draw then you chance melting the wiring.

Welcome to the site! Well first of all tell us about this "speed chip" I dont think too many people on here believe in them. If you want your car to stand out just get some rims. They are the easiest thing that can make your car look a lot nicer, as long as you choose the right ones biggrin.gif Some lowering springs and nicer struts (I would suggest Tein S Techs and KYBs) would make you stand out a little bit as well. As far as engine stuff, aside from turboing or engine swap like bindertch said, there isnt a lot that you can do to make the 1.8 engine powerful. There isnt a lot of aftermarket support for our cars, so we are really limited to what we have to modify with, but just take a look at the parts database and seach around the site and you can find some things to help you out with your decisions.

welcome to the site. you should've waited before you bought your intake. you could've gotten a cold air intake for about 30 bucks with a lil modification. it wouldn't make much of a difference in speed (cuz our cars are pretty slow), but the sound is awesome. there's a lot of other stuff you can do. just check the stickies and the how-to section. and post some pics of your car.

Welcome smile.gif
"Speed chip" is not what they are made out to be.
I dont believe in them and so do many others here.

What you want from your car will determine what mods you
want to do. For everyone its different.
I started off with handling mods, now I'm working on the exterior.
Its up to you wink.gif

thanks guys... i emailed the guy about the light bulbs and he promises me that they have wiring protection but i'm skeptical, i also found out that the guy who sold me my celica lied to me and sold me a car without high beams, i asked him where the inner headlights were and he told me not to worry that those only come with the GT, so i have to now goto a jounk yard for some high beams, anyway here are all the parts i got, i'll take some pictures of my car a bit later so u guys can see the progression and no i didn't spend a ton on the speed chip but i guess i just wanted to believe it was true, because are cars really aren't the fastest... i'm also willing to put plenty into this car if i can make a radical change...

parts:

i think it good for starters just don't put that speed chip in, you can up grade your inatke to an injen or cold air,you could buy a greddy sp2 but you have to do someting cause of that sensor by the exhust. but welcome to site biggrin.gif
