It's hard looking so fast, Cars pull up to race thinking your fast Options

The problem with having a Celica is the fact that it looks so darn fast. So fast that every Tom, Dick and Harry who has a sports car wants to take there chances with you. It's even hard to pass any sports car on the road because they just don't want to let a Celica go by. That's why people it is a must to get your cars as fast a possible, decieve the person you are passing or is willing to pull up next to you and rev there engine. Make them think that it is stock, or you just have some rims on it then...blow them away. How does anyone else feel about this?

I had some guy talk to me at a carwash. He asked if it was fast or just looked fast. I told him for now it gets me there, but later its gonna fly.

He had a 91 Firebird with a V6 that he said was a V8.

He revved it up and i laughed at how ****ty it sounded.

Yups! the ladies love the car. But the ricers hate on it and i have to put up with staredowns in between lights.

Yehp. I've beaten plenty of cars though. I like this car though, chicks dig it. Especially exhaust/intake/looks combo just get the girls crazy. I had this guy this weekend....twin turbo RX7 tell me I had a nice ride...I told him I could spuz in my pants over his. He's like "Do it man!" lol. But yeah, some kid in a 95 grand prix says he races me all the time and brags ot his friends ot make look like a bigshot and says he wins everytime...yet I've enevr raced him. I was skeptical cuz our cars are fairly slow...but I beat him...so yeah our Celica's our slow not that slow! I only lost to an Eagle Talon TSI by three car lewngths...i have auto he has manual and i had him until h got to third.

I had some guy at the emissions test station ask me how fast my car was, then he dared me to do a burnout after my car passed. Yea I peeled out nicely, but I wasnt about to tell him how slow my car was. I have people pull up next to me all the time wanting to race just cause Celica's look fast, but I dont bother cause I'll get stomped if I try to race

Okay... I've never had someone rev on me in all my years. Maybe it's just where I live, or maybe it's becuase the celica is intimidating, but nobody ever revs on me!

My car is slowly but surely evolving into a fast ace car. I refuse to let it just look fast. Of course I, like many others, can not just piss away money. The process is slow but always progressing. Till then I'm going to enjoy my phat ace ride as should all 6GC owners

i talk to some local people and mostly i get the same response. "no respect for celicas (AKA smelicas haha)" this comes from people in Vtech honda/acuras, DSMs, WRXs, probe GTs etc.. but i talk to them a little more and tell them my plans and they say "ill have some respect for that one then". kinda makes me laugh, i always kinda shrug it off and say "yea makes for a real good sleeper if the guy has looked at celicas before. Toyota just didnt do the car any justice." its cool though, i love the car, im the one driving it, thats what matters. and i have yet to find a car with a more pimp interior. all its missing is the yolk and id be pullin some made loops and death spiral descents

LMAO, yea the 2 probes are my best friends, we trash on each others cars all the time the one is real quick and the other one looks SWEET (actually they both look sweet). its kinda the same thing though, i have no respect for probes, but those 2 i do. its nice to be able to say our STs can beat their base and SEs w00t!!!

yea, i often just trick ppl into thinking it really is fast by droppin the clutch lol nothin like goin into 2nd from 4th at 45 mph to get someones attention. but i HATE the rev limiter, i know that extra few rpms would make a lot of difference. but just add a 3sgte to the equation and u look really fast and are really fast! the system works!

yea me too i always get that too ''so is ur car fast'' or ''what u got'' 4 banger or 6 cylinder and when i step on it it doesn'r look fast but when i turn on the o/d and stomp on it with them in the car they think it is the fast car in the world and it has a turbo or something but all i really know is that all women and gurls all of them say ''i like ur car it is cute''.lol

Toyota did do it justice, they just didn't bring it across the pacific.

Too bad they never introduced the GT4 here - although they are pretty much available everywhere else..
They are such fun cars to drive (I drove one for a week in New Zealand - it seems the japanese dump their used cars and ship em off to AU and NZ - saw a bunch of Supra's there too Used but damned low mileage, the one I drove just had 40,000 Kilometers on the ODO (around 27,000 Miles I believe)..

i dont really get the whole your car is slow thing. i have a feeling that at a quick glance people think its a supra, and if they see what it really is, then they think its almost as fast as a supra.

i have only been revved by a 2002 v6 ranger, an excursion, and like this 1988 ranger with a cobra 5.0 in it(needsless to say, after he burned all through 1st and half through 2nd i lost) most other times things are started by my friends in the passenger seat.

a lot of people look at my speedo and say my car is fast. Oh look, it can go past 140!! lol. a few people have asked me how fast it is and i just say a fast car is a ferrari, or a viper. my car is better than a honda.

i got a friend that has a gsr and he always says my car is slow but likes the fact that i didnt go with an ls integra or any model civic. he likes the look of my car too, but just too slow for him.

but then there are the people with the v8's and think every other engine sucks. well, im proud to say that my car is faster than a 65 mustang with a 289. around here the mustang is known as the Valencia ferrari, loads of people have them and they all think they are fast. beat one of them and everyone stays away from you. granted a majority of them are v6 powered and very few of the v8's are done up right. i think its the fact that they feel safe hiding behind their engine size.

i really need to install my turbo. then i will have a car that looks fast and is relatively fast. then i have to get rid of my hub caps, they really drag the car down(looks wise).

My 97 ST is slightly modded but no biggie. Exhaust/CAI (nothing major), but with my clear side markers/turn signals and 18's I get alot of faster cars showing off around me. For example, I'm at a stop light and an everyday car or truck pulls up at the light going the opposite way. When the light turns green, the car just burns out and takes off down the road as fast as he can. That happens to me all the time. I take that as a compliment. I think those people are seeing my car and then they say to themselves,"I have a fast car too." and they want to show off for me.

Whats the deal with everyone, why is it that so many people make their car look nice first then work on the performance. Whatever makes you happy I guess but with the money some of you guys spend on body kits, JDM lights, sterios etc...you could do an engine swap or turbo. This is me but I'd rather drive a car with peeling paint that could run 12s and be glued to the road than something that looks like a million bucks but gets beaten by mini vans. I wouldnt leave it that way for long but while you guys are waiting to buy the 'go' ill be waiting to buy the 'show', don't get me wrong all you guys with the kits and rims have awsome looking cars, I still cant get over how great Celicas look with that stuff. I think they look better than Supras but Im partial to the round lights from growing up with MGs. Anyone with me? After driving my friends 280hp BMW M3 I've gotten worse, that $hit hauled ass but it wouldnt be enough for long. A Road and Track writer who took a spin in a Toyota Atlantic car said racing is like heroin without the needle...so true so true, its actually better than heroin IMO.
