To my knowledge the MR2's were rear wheel drive therefore they wont work, the late model truenos with the 20v blacktop engine did have a six speed available in japan, I guess fitment would depend on what model engine you have and how far you are prepared to go to make it work.

the mr2' drive train .. pretty much the same as front wheel drive car .. there are diffrences but nothing like a FR (Simple explination)

actually the mr2's drivetrain is exactly the same as the celica since it's a mid engine car. for example, the 5sfe in the mr2 is the same engine and tranny, the linkages are just on the other side of the transmission. internals are exactly the same. i've read about guys swapping transmission internals from a mr2's 3sgte tranny casing to a fwd celica 5sfe tranny casing. also mr2 guys swapping the solara 5speed tranny into the mr2 casing for longer gears.

E153 = tranny code is is a fwd tranny just setup backwards it would work with any fwd 3sgte. And there was a few 6 speed trannys made to work with a s series motor but there all unfortunately rwd.

You basically have two options for a 6-speed with a 6GC. 1, the 6-speed that comes with the 4AGE 20v Blacktop, and 2, the 7th gen Celica GTS 6-speed.

In order to get those into a 6gc, you could bolt the one from the blacktop to a 7AFE, or you could swap the blacktop with that tranny. Or, you could swap the bellhousing from a 7AFE tranny (C52) on the one from the 7th gen and use that. Lastly, you could swap an entire 2ZZGE engine with the 6-speed tranny.

why would you want to swap in a 2zz in a 6gc? By the time you were done with that swap you would have less power than a 3sgte... be na and spend twice as much?

QUOTE
2ZZ-GE - This is the engine that resides in the seventh generation Toyota Celica, Toyota Matrix, and the Pontiac Vibe. This engine swap is not feasible for many reasons. One reason is that you would need to change your motor mounts, change your transmission, and you would need to modify lots of other things that wouldn't need to be modified with other swaps. Another reason is that this engine is expensive. It's a pretty new engine, and chances are that you won't be able to find one in good condition in a junkyard, and if you do, it will cost you a lot of money(Much more than any of the feasible swaps listed below.) One more reason that this engine swap would not be reasonable to do is that this engine is not very powerful. Sure, it has 180 horsepower at the crank, but it really lacks low end torque. Why not just save thousands of dollars and swap in an engine that has more horsepower and more torque?

hey, nice mod does it come in hetero?

im not gonna do it, but for one, you would have the only one. and two the 3sgte is too much power for a good daily drivin, emissions passing 6gc and some people like na power over turboed cars
