you can start the car with the key
but i disabled it, so its just the start button now. My start button is a genuine honda s2000 button so its designed for it so i cant vouch for other items. ive not had any problems no with power failures etc This post has been edited by Sr_Ric: Apr 15, 2006 - 6:22 AM |

yea I did this a while back to my ST...easy install
Ignited makes them (illuminated and non-illuminated), there are 4 wires to connect. 1 - to all time power 2 - to ground 3 - to ignition/starter wire (black/white comming from your ignition) 4 - ACC power you can either cut the black/white wire and make the button the only way to start the car, or splice into the wire and have either work. Either way you have to turn the key to the "on" postion. pics for reference ![]() ![]() about $40-$80 depending on what kind and where you get them -------------------- |

I guess you could hook it up to your starter kill on your alarm, but it would still be pretty easy to steal.

Hey, it's more trouble putting the key in the ignition and then moving your hand and pushing the start button.

well, I have something like that on my 1987 celica GT, but is not a button it's a hidden on/off switch, so before you start the car you have to turn it to on position, if not I won't start ( security purposes )

ok Dustin there is something that I dont understand. Why would you have to hook up a wire to an all time power and an ACC power. Why both? And when you say the black and white wire in the ignition do you mean behind the dash console....or.....? I've been thinking about doing this little gimmick for awhile.

The black/white wire is located behind the actual ignition, here is a pic (from Coomer's install giude)
![]() I found that it is kinda tough to get to these easily (you have to remove a few dash plastics ect to get good access to it), so I followed that wire through the harness and there is an easy place to access it. Directly behind your clock/stereo there is a wire harness taped up that runs strait up and down. Cut the black tape off and there is the black/white wire with a bunch of others ![]() ![]() I have big hands and getting to that wire behind the ignition sucked for me. Behind the clock/radio, there is soo much room to work ![]() about the all time and the ACC, I need to clarify, it isn't ACC (first click, radio on ect..), it is when the ignotion is in the "on" position (second click). Why you need both, I don't know exactly. I would assume for the same reason there is all time power going to your ignition stock from Toyota ![]() -------------------- |
