hey what's up i am burnin oil at around 4k rpm. i purchased the sts oil restrictor and i thought that that would solve the problem but it only helped alittle bit. could my turbo seals be blown. i drove the car for about 5 days without the oil restrictor.

your talking about a 3sgte, right?
you should never for any reason have to use a restrictor if you have a '26 on there.
make sure your return line is totally clear and clean.

nah i have the 5sfe motor. now my turbo burns oil just going down the freeway not even boosting. i loose a half quart for 3 days or so. i think my seals are blown but not quite sure what to do. should i attempt to rebuild it myself or should i have it sent out and get it rebuilt.

ahh for some reason, i thought you had a 3s, sorry.
what is your return setup?
what size is your feed?
if your using a restrictor on a 3an line, and the stock 3s return setup, and your SURE your return isnt clogged in any way, id guess the turbo needs a rebuild.

You were probably thinking of RJB23.

is this a sign that the turbo probably needs a rebuild. the oil is comming from the cold side of the turbo and going into my throttle body. should i attempt it to do it myself?

Yes. It needs rebuilt. I've heard mixed results from the DIY rebuild kits. I'd suggest having it done just in case the bearing housing needs to be machined or if the rotating assembly needs to be balanced. Plus most places offer some sort of warranty. Call up ATSRacing and see what they can do for you.

if you have ATS do the work and your rebuilding anyways, consider the CT27 upgrade from your core. just a thought, manny will know more details though.

of course i have thought about the ct27 upgrade but i'm not planning on running that much boost so just a stock turbo works for me but it would be nice. let's say the shaft wasn't balanced would it eventually eat away at my seals again?

in an extreme case the unbalanced shaft (un checked) would eventually blow out the seals/bearings, then go for the housing as it would rock closer it would dig into it, shooting metal shavings into your motor, AND and very worst case, it would just flat out blow up and shoot the fins right into your intercooler.

Again thats a very extreme case, but its always a good idea to have it balanced when your doing that kind of work.

allright thanks man. i know one of the fins has a lil chip in it but the compressor isn't hitting the side of the turbo.
